In the name of God Amen, considering that it is the ultimate fate of man to die and bring now in an advanced state of life, I Philip Eckert of Lebanon Township, Lebanon County, yet in full possession of sound mind, memory and judgment, do make and declare my last will and testament and I do the same hereby in the following manner to wit:
It is my Will that when I shall be called out of this life, my body be interred in a Christian like manner, that all my debts I may owe be paid and my outstanding debts be collected.
Item ? It is my will that my beloved wife Lydia shall have and posses the dwelling, house and land whereon I now live with the appurtenances thereto belonging for her own use and benefit for and during her natural lifetime and also my eight day clock, two tin plate stoves with pipes, her choice of two beds, bedding and bedsteads with so much household and kitchen furniture as she may think to be in need of; together with the sum of Fifty pounds lawful money of Pennsylvania to be paid and delivered to her by my executors hereinafter named, immediately after my decease and the sum of Fifty pounds per year commencing one year after my decease to be paid to my said wife yearly and every year during her natural lifetime. I also give and bequeath to my said wife two good milk cows and one good horse. And it is my will and I do hereby order and direct that within one year after my decease, all the rest of my estate, real, personal and mixed, whatsoever and wheresoever the same may be and not by me hereinbefore disposed of, shall be sold by public auction for the best price that can be gotten for the same and the remainder, after payment of my debts and all necessary _______________ shall be equally divided to and among all my children, but my son George, in consideration of he hath already received from me and my having released him from all the covenants of a certain Article of Agreement between him and me for sundry provisions to be furnished by him to my wife Lydia and myself and the survivor of us during our lifetime, shall have eight hundred dollars less than each of the other children's share, and no demands or claims for work done or the like by and of my children shall be allowed or paid out of my estate after my decease.
And it is my will and I do hereby order and direct that the equal shares of my estate as aforesaid shall be distributed and paid in the following manner to wit:
Margaret, Mary and Louisa, the three daughters of my son Peter, deceased, shall have one share to be divided to and among them equally. My daughter Mary, who was intermarried with Jacob Brandt, shall have on share. My daughter Susanna, intermarried with Conrad Hoffman, shall have one share. My daughter Margaret, intermarried with George Boyer, shall hone one share. My daughter Elizabeth, intermarried with Peter Daub, shall have one share. My daughter Catherine shall have one share and my daughter Hannah shall have one share to be paid to them or their legal representatives respectively. And it is my will and I do hereby order and direct that the share, purport or dividend which may be due and coming to my said daughter Susanna, intermarried with Conrad Hoffman, shall be retained in the hands of my Executors and by them paid from time to time to my said daughter Susanna in such ____________ or payment as they shall think proper as she may be in need of and in case my said daughter Susanna shall survive her husband the said Conrad Hoffman, she shall receive the whole amount which may be due on her share immediately after his death and after he death the same shall be equally divided to and among all her children, share and share alike. And it is my will and I do hereby order that whatever costs and expenses I may ? (can't read) by the guardians of the minor children of my son Peter, deceased, such costs and expenses shall be paid and deducted out of the share of the thence minor children aforesaid and that the said share, purport or dividend which may be due and coming to the said Margaret, Mary and Luisa, daughters of my said son Peter, deceased, shall be retained in the hands of my executors and by them paid over to the said Margaret Mary and Luisa respectively on their being twenty one years of age.
And it is my will and I do hereby order and direct that within one year after the death of my beloved wife Lydia, the dwelling house and piece of land whereon I now reside shall be sold by public auction by my executors or the survivor of them for the best price that can be gotten and shall be distributed to and among all my children share and share alike.
And lastly, I do hereby order, appoint and constitute my friend Jacob Goodhart (?) of the borough of Lebanon in the County aforesaid, clockmaker, my son George Eckert and my son-in-law George Boyer, my lawful executors to execute this my last will and testament and to do and perform in consequence thereof all acts and deeds which according to law they are authorized and required to do and perform.
