Last Will and Testament of William M. Bickel

Dated March 25, 1885, Proved Dec 7, 1895 same day as Letters of Testimony granted unto William H. Bickel the executor named in the will, he having first been duly qualified ther unto. Testator died Nov, 24, 1895

In the name of God, Amen. I William M. Bickel now of the city of Philadelphia state of Pennsylvania being of sound mind and memory and understanding for which I thank the Almighty, do make and publish this my last will and testament hereby revoking and making void all former wills by me at any time hereto for made.

First... It is y will and pleasure to be buried in a Christian like manner in as quick a way as possible.

Secondly... It is my will and I order and direct my hereinafter named executor to have erected at my grave a tombstone the same in all respects as at the graves of my deceased daughter Ann R. and my sons John S., and George R. immediately after my burial.

Thirdly... after the payment of the expenses attending my sickness and burial and the erection of the tombstone as directed and the payment of all my just debts if any there be, I give and bequeath all the remainder of my estate real personal and mixed of whatsoever nature the same may be of which I may be possessed at the time of my decease unto my beloved and only surviving child William H. Bickel.

Fourthly... I do herby appoint and ordain my beloved son William H. Bickel sole executor of this my last will and testament. In witness where of I William M. Bickel the testator have to this my last will written on one sheet of paper set my hand and seal this twenty fifth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty five.

The Testator William M. Bickel by him published and declared as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us who in his presence and at his request and in the presence of each other signed the same as witnesses:

Jacob J. Shelmire and David Shelmire

Berks County on the 7th day of Dec, 1895 Before me personally appeared Jacob J. Shelmire and David Shelmire the subscribing witnesses of the forgoing will of William M. Bickel deceased and on their solemn Oaths did say they were witnesses to the will of William M. Bickel.
