Last Will and Testament of Susan Catharine Ringler
West Reading 1910
I, Susan Catharine Ringler, wife of Solomon J Ringler, of the Borough of West Reading, County of Berks, and State of Pennsylvania, being of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, do hereby make, publish and declare the following to be my last Will and testament
- I hereby order and direct my Executor hereinafter named to pay all just debts and funeral expenses as soon as conveniently can be done after my death.
- I hereby give and bequeath all my estate, real personal and mixed whatsoever and wheresoever unto The Pennsylvania Trust Company, in Trust for the following uses and purposes, to wit:
- To maintain and keep in repair my properties Nos. 332 Cherry Street, 339 and 341 Franklin Street in the Borough of West Reading, aforesaid, pay all taxes and charges thereon and pay the net income thereof semi-annually unto my husband, Solomon J. Ringler for and during hi s natural life.
- Immediately upon the death of my said husband, I give and devise my said house and lot No. 332 Cherry Street in the Borough of West Reading aforesaid unto my nephew Charles Henry Wesner, his heirs and assigns absolutely.
- Immediately upon the death of my said husband, I give and devise my said house and lots of ground Nos. 339 and 341 Franklin Street in the Borough of West Reading aforesaid unto my two sisters, Rebecca Weaner and Mary Ann Peifer, their heirs and assigns share and share alike absolutely, subject to payment of the legacies hereinafter bequeathed.
- Immediately upon the death of my said husband, I give and bequeath all my household furniture (except two cherry boys which are to go to my friend Ida Sheeler) unto my said nephew Charles Henry Wesner absolutely.
- Immediately upon the death of my said husband, I give and bequeath the following sums, to be paid by my two sisters, their heirs and assigns out of properties Nos. 339 and 341 Franklin Street in the Borough of West Reading aforesaid, in manner following to wit:
- (1) One Hundred (100.) Dollars to my said sister, Mary Ann Peifer for her services to me during my illness.
- (2) One Hundred (100) Dollars to my sister-in-law, Sophie Leader.
- (3) Five Hundred (500) Dollars to my grand-niece Mary Huber, daughter of James Huber, of whom I hereby appoint The Pennsylvania Trust Company to be her guardian during her minority.
- (4) Two Hundred (200) Dollars to The Alsace Church Cemetery Company to keep in repair the burial lot of my father, John Poff.
- (5) One Hundred (100) Dollars to Reverend William A. Laub, Pastor of Bethany Lutheran Church of West Reading.
- If advantageous terms of sale should be offered for any of the above named properties Nos. 339 and 341 Franklin Street, in the Borough of West Reading aforesaid, during the lifetime of my said husband, then I herby authorize and empower my Executor hereinafter named to sell the whole or any part thereof in their discretion at public or private sale and to execute and deliver good and sufficient deed or deeds therefore to the purchaser or purchasers thereof in fee simple, free from any obligation of the part of said purchasers to see to the application of the purchase money: provided however, that in such event the proceeds of the respective properties shall be held for and go to the respective parties above provided for in the manner set forth.
And Lastly, I do hereby nominate, constitute and appoint The Reading Trust Company to be the Executor of this my last Will and Testament.
In Witness whereof, I Susan Catharine Ringler, the testatrix above named, have to this my last Will and Testament, typewritten upon tow sheets of paper, set my hand and seal this 8th day of December A.D One Thousand Nine Hundred and Ten (1910).
