Renounciation

Sir, I Eliza Weitzel, widow of Peter Weitzel, late of Reading, Pennsylvania, deceased, do hereby renounce all my right to letters of administration upon the estate of said decedent, and desire that same way be granted to James Weitzel of said City. Witness my hand, this fifth day of August, A.D. 1882.

James Weitzel, administrator of Peter Weitzel late of Reading, County and State aforesaid, deceased, being duly sworn says that the whole of the personal property belonging to the estate of said deceased was elected and retained as (unreadable) by Elizabeth Weitzel widow of said decedent for the use of herself and family in accordance with the provisions of the Act of Assembly of April 14, 1851, and for that reason no general inventory is filed in said estate.

Know all men by these presents, that we, James Weitzel, Isaac H. Gernand and George Raden are held and firmly bound unto the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, in the sum of Sixteen Hundred dollars to be paid to the said Commonwealth, to which payment well and truly be made and done, we do bind ourselves, our Heirs, Executors and Administrators, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents. Sealed with our Seals and dated the nineteenth day of January A. D. one thousand eight hundred and eighty three.

Whereas, application is about to be made to the Orphans Court of Berks county, for an order of sale of all that certain Lot or piece of ground with the one and a half story brick dwelling house there on executed situate on the north east corner of Washington and Thorne Streets Reading aforesaid, Bounded on the north by a ten feet wide alley on the east by property now or late of James Weitzel on the south by Washington Street and on the west by said Thorne Street, containing in front on said Washington Street nineteen feet and in (unreadable) north and south one hundred and eighty feet.

Late the Estate of Peter Weitzel deceased, which shall be sold by the above named James Weitzel Administrator, of all and singular the goods, chattels, rights and credits which were of the Estate of said Peter Weitzel deceased.

The Condition of this Obligation is Such:

That if the above bounden James Weitzel Administrator as aforesaid, shall faithfully appropriate the proceeds of such sale, according to his duties as Administrator aforesaid then this Obligation to be void; otherwise to be and remain in full force and virtue.

The undersigned appraisers of the personal estate of Peter Weitzel late of the City of Reading in said county, deceased, respectfully certify that after having been duly sworn according to law, they made the foregoing appraisement of the personal property of said deceased, elected to be retained by Elizabeth Weitzel widow of said deceased, as is therein set forth.

Petition for Sale of Mortgage

In the Orphans Court of Berks County.

To the Honorable, the Judges of the within named Court:

The petition of James Weitzel, administrator of Peter Weitzel late of Reading, in said County, deceased, respectfully showeth: That the said Peter Weitzel died on or about the sixth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and eighty one, intestate, leaving to survive him a widow Eliza Weitzel and seven children, to wit, James Weitzel, Sarah Koller late Weitzel intermarried with Samuel Koller, Charles Weitzel, Elizabeth intermarried with John S. Ebbing, Amanda, intermarried with William Ely, Levi Weitzel and Isaac Weitzel.

Your Petitioner further represents, that the said decedent died seized of and in certain real estate situate in said County, a description of which is hereunto annexed; that the personal estate of said decedent is not sufficient for the payment of his depts., as appears by an inventory and appraisement of all the personal estate of said decedent exhibited in the office of the Register of said County, and by his certificate set forth herein.

Your Petitioner therefore prays the Court to order the sale of the said real estate for the purpose of the payment of the debts of said decedent and he will, &c.
