Leah Bickel, Tulpehocken township, Berks County, PA.
Proved April 11, 1883 and Letters of Testamentary in common form were granted unto Levi G. Batderff the executor in the will named having first been duly qualified thereto, who died on the 22nd day of March 1883 abt. 9:30 o’clock a.m.
I Leah Bickel of Mr. Aetna, berks county, Pennsylvania being of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, and considering the uncertainty of life, do therefore make, ordain, publish and declare, this to be my last will and testament, in manner and form following that is to say.
I direct all my just debts and funeral expenses to be fully paid and satisfied by my executor, hereinafter named, as soon as conveniently may be after my decease.
I give and bequeath unto my hereinafter named executor in trust, all my real and personal estate, out of which, said trustee shall maintain and provide for my husband Jacob Bickel, during all the term of his natural life.
I direct and order in case of no other funds being in the hands of my hereinafter named executor out of which to maintain and provide for my said husband Jacob Bickel as aforesaid, that all my household goods and furniture be converted into money, and to be applied for the purpose aforesaid, and should necessity require, I order and direct that my real estate be converted into money , and for that purpose I do hereby authorize and empower my said executor herein after named, to sell and dispose of all my said real estate at public sale, for the best price that can be gotten for the same, and by proper deed or deeds, conveyances, or assurances in the law, to be duly executed, acknowledged and assure the same to the purchaser there of in fee simple, and the proceeds of such sales to be used and applied as aforesaid, and after the death of my said husband Jacob Bickel, and after paying his funeral expenses, and the expenses of settling up my whole estate, the amount remaining unexpended, I order and direct that the same shall then be divided among my three children share and share alike, namely, one share to my son Isaac Heddinger, one share to my daughter Elizabeth wife of Davilla Hicks, and one share to my son Henry Bickel.
And as to all the rest, residue and remainder of my estate, real, personal and mixed, of whatever nature or kind, or wheresoever situate at the time of my decease, I do hereby give, devise and bequeath, and Lastly I do make and appoint Dr. Levi G. Batdorff to be my executor of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former will by me at any time heretofore made, and declaring these presents only to be and contain my last will and testament. In witness whereof, I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal, the twenty fifth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty two.
