Inventory and Appraisement Sur Estate of John Freehafer, Deceased

True and perfect inventory and just appraisement of all and singular goods and chattels rights and credits which were of John Freehafer, late of the township of Lower Heidelberg in the county of Berks and State of Pennsylvania __ at the time of his death to wit:

Order of Sale Sur Real Estate of John Freehafer

Order of Sale Sur Real Estate of John Freehafer, deceased,
Berks County ss

At an Orphan's Court held at Reading in and for Berks County September 6th A.D. 1875. Present Hon Judges Hageman, Bruckman, and Buskirk

The petition of Franklin Freehafer, administrator of John Freehafer, late of Lower Heidelberg in said County deceased, respectfully represents:

That the said John Freehafer lately died intestate and seized in his demesne as of fee of the following described real estate to wit: all that certain messuage tenement and tract or piece of land situate in the township of Lower Heidelberg aforesaid bounded by lands of Benjamin Bickel, Thomas Werner, John Bender, and others containing twenty three acres more or less with the appurtenances.

That the personal estate is insufficient to pay the said intestates debts and that it is requisite to sell said premises for the payment thereof. That the inventory of the personal estate amounts to the sum of three hundred and fifty dollars and sixty five cents and that the debts as far as they have come to the knowledge of your petitioner, amount to the sum of sixteen hundred and twenty five dollars. That said intestate left surviving him a widow and issue three children, your petitioner therefore prays the court to grant him an order for the sale of said premises and such other parcels as to your Honorable shall seem meet.

Said petitioner having been presented and read wherein from the court upon due consideration award an order of sale as prayed for and direct said administrator to file a bond in the office of the clerk of the orphan's court in the sum of Six thousand dollars with surety to be approved by the court. Conditioned for the faithful application of the proceeds of said sale --- from the premises herein described to public sale on the premises in Lower Heidelberg Township on Saturday, October 9 AD 1875 at one O'clock PM upon the following terms and conditions, ten percent of the purchase money to be paid down on the day of sale and the balance on or before the first day of April next, said administrator to give notice of said sale agreeably to the provisions of the 54th section of the act of assembly of March 29, 1832 and the rules of this court relating to Orphans Court and make return of their proceedings herein to the next stated orphans court to be held at Reading in and for said county October 23, 1875 or any subsequent day

Petition of Franklin Freehafer

To the Honorable the judges of the Orphans court in and for the County of Berks.

The petition of Franklin Freehafer administrator of John Freehafer respectfully represents,

That in pursuance of the foregoing order having given due and timely notice of said sale according to law he did expose from the processes therein described to public sale on the ninth day of October A.D. 1875 and sold the same Reuben I. Landis for the price or sum of two thousand nine hundred and fifty dollars that being the highest and best price bidden therefore and he being the highest and best price bidden for the same which sale I pray your honorable court may be confirmed
