Last Will and Testament of John Faust

1881 Spring Twp

I John Faust of the Township of Spring in the County of Berks and State of Pennsylvania, being of sound mind, memory and understanding, do make and publish this to be my last will and testament, hereby revoking and making void all former wills by me at any time heretofore made.

First; I direct and order my just debts and funeral expenses to be paid as soon as conveniently can be after my death.

Second; All my property which I own and have at the time of my death I give and bequeath to my wife Leah for and during her natural life, giving her the right and privilege to use and enjoy the same, and in case of necessity to sell the same or collect the notes, and use the money as she may need the same, and after her death, whatever remains of the same, I give and bequeath to my two children Henry Faust and Catharine, wife of Charles Yocum in equal shares.

Third; A certain note of two hundred dollars which I hold against my son Henry, is lost, and if it is should ever be found again, it shall not be collected from him as he paid the same to me in full.

Fourth; I hereby appoint and constitute my said wife Leah to be executor of this my last will and testament.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this ninth day of August AD one thousand eight hundred and eighty one.

Signed, sealed, published and declared by the above names John Faust as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us who have hereunto subscribed our names at his request as witnesses thereto in the presence of the said testator and of each other.

Personally appeared Isaac Berg and B Y Shearer, the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing will being duly sworn doth depose and say that they were present and did depose and say that they were present and did see and hear John Faust the testator sign (by making his mark) sealed and published and declared the foregoing instrument of writing as and for his last will and testament, that at the time of so doing he was of sound mind memory and understanding to the best of their knowledge observation and belief.
