Last Will and Testament of John Becker

In the Name of God Amen

I John Becker living in the town of Reading am very sick and weak in body. But yet of good understanding memory praying therefore considering the mortality of man. Do so hereby make my Last Will and Testament and Dispose of my worldly effects in manner following.

First. I recommend my soul into the Hands of the Great God, who hath given me the same, and my body to be buried in the Earth in a Christian Like manner, out of which he was taken. And will that all my debts shall be paid through my Executor, who shall be named hereafter.

Secondly. My will is and I give and bequeath to my daughter Eva Catharine Becker, all the following articles. Namely, one chest, one large Bible, and a Hymn Book, one kitchen dresser, one iron pot, one feather bed, a pair of s???????ds, one large pewter plate, one dish, four pewter plates, one coffee mill, one axe, one hatchet, and all other things ?????? which I bought to my wife Marilis Becker of any name whatsoever, and all this I give to her and her heirs and assigns forever.

Thirdly. Further, I give and bequeath to my wife Marilis Becker all my whole estate, it being what I will, and which I not yet having bequeathed to my daughter Eva Catharine, to her and her heirs and assigns forever.

Lastly. I nominate and appoint my son in law Jacob Yeager in the town of Reading as Executor over this my last Will and Testament and make void all Testaments by me here before made and declare this to be my Last Will and testament as Witness my Hand and Seal the 3rd day of April in the year of our lord 1778.
