Last Will and Testament of Jacob Bunn

In the name of God amen, I Jacob Bunn of Douglass Township in Berks County and State of Pennsylvania, considering the uncertainty of this world's life and being of Sound mind and Memory and understanding blessed be Almighty God for the same do make and publish this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following, that is to say first I order all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid by my Executor herein after named.

I Will and devise to my beloved Wife Mary the use of the rooms in the House wherein I now live with Liberty to the use of as much of the Sellar and kitchen, two Cows and sufficient keeping for them winter and summer and sufficient firewood hauled to her door and twenty Bushels Rye, eight bushels wheat, one Hundred pounds of Beef and two Hundred pounds of Pork, all which my said wife is to be supplied with out of my Estate yearly and every Year during her Life Time or as long as she Remains my widow. I also give to my said wife the use of one Horse and Chaise at such times as She may want them for her own use, the use of one Stove and part of the Garden, one Quarter of an Acre of flax every year with Liberty of Her choice to plante Potatoes, all the above gifts and Bequests is for her own use and not otherwise.

Item – I give and devise to my son John Bunn, his heirs and Assigns, all that Messuage or Tenament estate lying and being in Douglass Township aforesaid containing Fifty four Acres, be the same more or less. I give and devise to my son John Bunn and to his heirs one other messuage, Tenament and tract of land situate and lying and being in Union Township in Berks County aforesaid containing eight Acres be the same more or less together with all my other freehold estate whatsoever to hold to him the said John Bunn, his heirs and Assigns forever, Subject to all Provender heretofore given to said wife Mary and Subject to the payment of eight hundred thirty three pounds, thirteen shillings and eight pence to be paid in five equal annual payments without Interest, the first payment to be paid within one year. After the decease of my said wife, the said sum of eight hundred and thirty three pounds, thirteen shillings and eight pence to be equally divided amongst my other five children or their heirs, Viz – Jacob Bunn, Hannah intermarried with Jacob Egolf, Henry Bunn, Elizabeth intermarried with Adam Egolf and William Bunn, John Bunn having already had his part out of the two said tracts of land above for his sixth share. All the remainder and Residue of my whole Life not heretofore devised, I give and devise to my six children here before named, Viz – John Bunn, Jacob Bunn, Hannah intermarried with Jacob Egolf, Henry Bunn, Elizabeth intermarried with Adam Egolf and William, and to their heirs forever, and Lastly, I do hereby nominate, constitute and appoint my son John Bunn Sole Executor of this my Last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all former Wills by me made, and for Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal this third day of September in the year of our Lord one Thousand eight Hundred and twenty two.

Signed, Sealed, published and declared by the above Jacob Bunn to be his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who at his Request and in his Presence have Subscribed our names as Witnesses thereunto.

Berks County SS – This 18th day of November A.D. 1822 before me Peter Aurand, Register for the Probate of wills and Granting letters of administration in and for the County of Berks, Personally Came Thos. Boone, one of the Subscribing Witnesses to the above will, and being duly affirmed according to Law, did Declare and Say that he, and the other Subscribing Witness, John Moser, were present together and saw and heard Jacob Bunn, the Testator, Sign, Seal, Publish, Pronounce and Declare the foregoing Instrument of writing. As and for his Testament and Last Will and that at the time of So doing he was of Prefect and Sound Mind, memory and understanding, to the best of his knowledge, observation and belief, and that John Moser, the other Subscribing Witness is Since Died.
