Hereford 1847
In the name of God Amen, I, Henry George of Hereford Township in the County of Berks and State of Pennsylvania, tanner, being in good health of body, and sound mind, memory and understanding; but, considering the uncertainty of this transitory life do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following, to wit;
First: It is my will, that all my just debts and funeral expenses be duly paid and satisfied, as soon as conveniently can be after my decease.
Second: I give and devise, to my son Charles George, the messuage or tenement and tract of land on which I now reside, situate in Hereford Township afore said bounded by lands of Mathias Gerhard, Samuel Treichler and others containing about forty four acres, and to his heirs and assigns forever, at and for the sum of sixteen hundred dollars, one half of which he the said Charles George is to retain as his own share thereof, and the other half to wit the sum of eight hundred dollars I give and devise to Richard Gregory intermarried to my daughter Lydia his heirs and assigns, and is to be paid to him by my said son Charles, in the following manner to wit: sixty dollars one year after my decease and so annually sixty dollars, without interest, until the said eight hundred dollars are fully paid and satisfied, and it is my will that my said son Charles shall not be obliged to bring the money to the said Richard Gregory, but the said Richard Gregory or someone for him, shall personally call upon my said son Charles whenever the payment becomes due; and if it should not be paid when so demanded it shall carry interest from the time it was due and payable.
Third: I give and devise unto said son Charles my German family Bible.
Fourth: It is my will that my moveable goods shall be sold by my executor hereinafter named; but he shall not make any sales before the expiration of two months after my decease.
Fifth: I give and devise the balance due my estate, after deducting, the expenses of Administration to my said son Charles George and to my said son in law Richard Gregory their heirs and assigns in equal shares, but the advancement by me already made to the said Richard Gregory shall be deducted from his share or be equalized according to Law, to wit: the sum of two hundred and eighty six dollars and sixty six cents, being the amount of said Richard Gregory’s note due me date October 27th 1843 payable one year after date with lawful interest from the date to be charged until paid and the further sum of two hundred and forty six dollars and fifty cents, without interest, for household and farming utensils by me given to said Gregory’s wife to that amount.
Sixth: It is my will that my executor herein after named shall perform his duties with punctuality & fidelity and in case any one of the Legaties above named should be dissatisfied with the provisions of this my will and commence suits at law against the other I do order that the prosecuting party shall pay all the costs of such suit whether he be successful or not in such suit.
And lastly: I nominate constitute and appoint my said son Charles George to be the executor of this my will, hereby revoking all other wills, legacies and bequests, by me heretofore made and declaring this and no other to be my last will and testament, In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal the twenty eighth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty six.

Berks County SS on the 11th day of February AD 1847 appeared Joseph Weidner and Ephraim Bear witnesses to the foregoing Will who being duly sworn according to law, did dispose and say that they were present and saw and heard the testator Henry George sign, seal, publish, pronounce and declare the foregoing instrument of writing as and for his last Will and Testament and that at the time of the doing thereof, he the said testator was of sound mind memory and understanding to the best of their knowledge, observation and belief.
