Last Will and Testament of George Moll

(1816-1876) Upper Tulpehocken

In the name of God amen, I George Moll of Upper Tulpehocken Township, Berks County and the State of Pennsylvania, farmer, being in good health of body and of sound and disposing memory, (praised be to God for the same) and being desirous to settle my worldly affairs, while I have the strength and capacity so to do, do make and publish this my last will and testament, hereby revoking and making void all former wills by me at any time heretofore made, and first and principally I commit my soul into the hands of my Creator who gave it.

Item: - I order and it is my will that all my debts and funeral expenses be duly satisfied and paid by my hereinafter named Executors as soon as conveniently can be done after my decease.

Item: - I order and direct my hereinafter named Executors to pay unto my dear wife Caroline the sum of three hundred ($300) dollars and in lieu of her Dower at Law, it is my will and I do order, that the sum of fifteen hundred ($1500) dollars shall remain secured on the farm whereon, I now reside, for the use of my said wife, during the natural life, of which the interest at the rate of 5 per cent year annum must be annually and regularly paid to her during her natural life, and I do further order and give the sum of one thousand ($1000) dollars to be secured for the use of my said wife, during her lifetime, on my farm or plantation situate in Upper Tulpehocken Township, aforesaid, known as the late John Zerbe's Farm of which the like interest of five per cent per annum shall be annually and regularly paid to my said wife during her natural life, and at her death the principal of said sums, shall be shared in equal shares among my six children hereinafter named. Executors shall make public sale of all my personal and real estate; but shall use their own discretion of the direction of a majority of them as the time when to sell the tract of land situate on the Blue Mountain they shall sell clear of incumbrances, my hereafter named Executors shall make equal distribution of my Estate among my six children viz Alfred, Daniel, Isaac, George, John and Ellen Elizabeth intermarried with Solomon H Lesher.

And I do hereby nominate, constitute and appoint my said six children viz Alfred, Daniel, Isaac, George, John and Ellen Elizabeth or their guardian during their minority to be the executors of this my will, hereby revoking all other wills, legacies and bequests, by me heretofore made and declaring this and no other, to be my last Will and Testament.

On witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal, the second day of January, one thousand eight hundred and seventy five.

Registers office Berks County S.S. on the 15th day of March A.D. 1876. Before me H C Croll Dep. Register of Wills, personally appeared Joseph Boltx and John Resch the subscribing witness to the foregoing Will being duly sworn according to Lay did dispose and say that they were present and did see and hear George Moll the testator sign seal publish and declare the fore going instrument of writing as and for his Last will and testament that at the time of so doing he was of Sound mind memory and understanding to the best of their knowledge observation and belief.
