At the Orphan's Court held at Reading for the county of Berks on the fifth day of February AD 1862, before the Hounorable Warren J Woodward, Esq. President and David Schall and George Stitzel, Esquires associate judges of said courts, upon the petition of Elijah B RETTEW, Administrator of the estate of Frederick HOUCK, late of said county, deceased, setting forth that the said Frederick HOUCK died intestate seized in his demesne as of fee of the following real estate to wit: All that certain messuage tenement and lot of land situate in Union Township, Berks county, bounded by lands of Jacob WARMSHER, Mahlon HOUCK and Edward and George BROOKE, containing two acres and one hundred and fifty-seven perches, more or less, that the personal estate of the said decedent is insufficient to pay his debts and that it is requisite to sell the whole of his real estate for payments thereof, that the petitioner has annexed to the petition a true and perfect inventory and conscionable appraisement of the personal estate of the said decedent, a full and correct statement of all the real estate of the said decedent, and a just and true account upon affirmation of all the debts of the decedent which have come to the knowledge of the petitioner, He therefore prays an order of said court to authorize a sale by him of the real estate described. Petition being presented and read whereupon the court on due consideration had of the premises approve of the security of the bona fide and order and decree a sale of the said premises and order and direct Elijah B RETTEW, Administrator of said deceased, to expose to public sale the said real estate on Tuesday, the 4th day of March AD 1862, at one o'clock PM at the public house of Jackson BEARD in Robeson Township, Berks County, he to give due public and timely notice of the time and place of sale with liberty to adjourn as to time and place and to make a report of his proceedings herein to the next stated Orphan's Court.

Elijah RETTEW made a report to the court that the sale was held and the buyer was Mary (nee BIVENS) HAMILTON, wife of Frederick HAMILTON, for the sum of one hundred and thirty dollars, which was the highest price bid for said property and which sale was wanting to be affirmed by the court.
Sale was confirmed by the court on 4/1862, Daniel Schalt, A J.
Final accounting was submitted to court on 2/16/1863 and approved by Daniel Potteiger, Deputy Register.
