In the Name of God, Amen, I, Charles Benseman, of the Borough of Hamburg, in the County of Berks, and State of Pennsylvania, Printer, being of Sound mind, memory, and understanding, but considering the uncertainty of this transitory life, do make and publish this my last will and testament, in mannera and form following, to wit.
First, It is my Will, and I do hereby order and direct, that all my just debts and funeral expenses be duly paid and satisfied, as soon as conveniently can be, after my decease.
Item, I give, bequeath and devise, unto my dear Mother, Maria Magdalena Benseman, all the rest, residue and remaninder of my Estate, Real personal and mixed, of what kind or nature so ever the same may be, situated in the County of Berks, aforesaid, or elsewhere, and to her heirs and assigns, forever.
And lastly I do hereby revoke all other wills, legacies and bequests, by me heretofore made, and declaring this, and no other, to be my last will and testament.
In Witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal, this twenty first day of September, One thousand eight hundred and fifty four.

On the 1st day of August Anno domini 1855 appeared Israel Derr and John Sunday, Witnesses to the within instrument of writing and being duly sworn sworn, according to Law, did depose and say, that they were present, and did hear and see the Testator Chas. Benseman sign seal publish pronounce and declare this instrument of writing as and for his last will and Testament, and that at the doing thereof he the said Testator was was of sound mind, memory and understanding, to the best of the knowledge observation and belief.

This is to notify, that you are required to put a fair valuation on the real estate of which Charles Benseman, late of Hamburg township (note: crossed out), died siezed or possessed, also to make a fair and conscionable appraisemant of the personal estate of said decedent; also to fix and assess the present cash value of all annuities, and life estates growing out of said estate; the same being subject to collateral inheritance tax; and make return of your proceedings forthwith to the Register, at his office in Reading.
