In the name of God Amen. I Daniel Batteiger of the Township of Upper Tulpehocken in the County of Berks and State of Pennsylvania Farmer being weak in body and of sound mind and memory and understanding, but considering the uncertainty of this transitory life, do make and publish this my last will and testament, in manner and form following to wit:
First. It is my will, and I do order. that all my just debts and funeral expenses be duly paid and satisfied, as soon as conveniently can be after my decease.
Second. It is my will and I do order that my dear wife Soloma is to have the interest of the one third of my property as the law directs. And if one of my children take my farm at the appraisement my wife Soloma shall have a room and place to live in the house during her natural life.
Third. It is my will and I do order that after my decease each of my children then living shall choose a man to appraise my property Real and personal, and then my son Ruben shall have the first chance to take it at the appraisement, but if any of the others, namely Joseph, Daniel, Jonathan, Lydia, Sarah, offers to give more for the property then it is appraised, Reuben must give it or let the one that offers it have it. My daughter Racy is excepted. She cant take the property. And the money of my property shall be divided in equal shares amongst my children but the share coming to my Daughter Racy or Teracy, she shant have in hand, it shall stand as a dower on the property or plantation. My son Joseph shall draw the interest and pay it over to her as she wants it to live of it, as Long as she lives, after her death it shall fall back to my other heirs in equal shares.
And lastly, I nominate and appoint my Sons Reuben and Joseph to be the executors of this my will, hereby Revoking all other wills, Legacies and bequests by me here to for made, and declaring this and no other to be my last will and testament
