Last Will and Testament of Abraham Becker

In the name of God, Amen.

I Abraham Becker of the Township of Alsace, in the County of Berks and State of Pennsylvania, am old and weak in body, but of sound mind, memory and understanding, do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following;

First. I order and direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses be duly paid and satisfied, as soon after my decease as conveniently can be done.

Item. I give devise and bequeath unto my son Abraham Becker, all that certain messuage tenement and tract of land on which I at present reside, situate in Alsace Township, County and State aforesaid, bounded by land of Henry Schmeck, Daniel Becker, dec? Nathan Haas and others containing thirty acres and some allowances, it being the same tract of land which I purchased from my father Jacob Becker, by deed dated the second day of April A.D.1793.

Item. I give devise and bequeath unto my son Abraham Becker, all that certain messuage tenement and tract of land on which I at present reside, situate in the Township, County and State aforesaid, bounded by land of Godfried Lutz, now or late George Guildin and others containing seven acres and twenty five perches more or less, it being the same tract of land which I purchased from John Keen & John W Burkhart, by deed dated the twenty first day of April A.D.1832.

Item. I give devise and bequeath unto my son Abraham Becker, all that certain messuage tenement and tract of land on which I at present reside, situate in the Township, County and State aforesaid, bounded by land of Daniel Becker dec?, and my thirty acre tract containing two acres and forty five perches and allowances, being the lot of ground which I purchased from my brother Jacob Becker, by deed dated the seventeenth day of April A.D.1806. The aforesaid three several messuages tenements and tracts of land I give and devise unto my said son Abraham Becker, and to his heirs and assigns forever. Subject to the payment of four hundred and seventy dollars to be paid to my other heirs as herein provided.

Item. My said son Abraham Becker shall pay unto my daughter Maria intermarried with Jonathan Boyer the sum of three hundred dollars in two equal payments, one hundred and fifty dollars the first payment in two years after my decease, and one hundred fifty dollars in three years after my decease, without interest.

Item. My son Abraham Becker shall pay unto Abraham Becker, David Becker, Catherine, Becker, Lydia Becker to each of them the sum of forty dollars and to Mary Becker and Elizabeth Becker to each of them the sum of ten dollars, (they being the sons and daughters of my son Samuel Becker deceased). The payments to be made in manner and form as provided for in the preceding Item, one half in two years and the other half in three years after my decease.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my son Abraham Becker and to his heirs and assigns forever, my copper kettles and my stove with the pipes.

Item. I order and direct my herein after named Executor to make sale of all my personal property ( not otherwise herein provided for) and after the payment of my just debts and other necessary expenses incurred in settling my estate, I give and bequeath as follows; one third part thereof I give and bequeath unto my son Abraham Becker, and to his heirs and assigns forever, one third part thereof I give and bequeath unto my daughter Maria intermarried with Jonathan Boyer, and to her heirs and assigns forever, one third part thereof I give and bequeath unto the children of my son Samuel Becker deceased, to be divided to and among the share and share alike.

And lastly I nominate constitute and appoint my son Abraham Becker to be the Executor of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all other will or wills by me , at any time heretofore made.

I witness where of I Abraham Becker have hereunto set my hand and seal this thirteenth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty nine – 1859.

Berks Count SS. On the Second day of February AD 1860 appeared Jeremiah Fick and Daniel Burkirk the subscribing witnesses to this will they being duly sworn did dispose and say that they were present and did see and hear the Testator Abraham Becker sign seal publish pronounce and declare the foregoing instrument of writing as a d for his Last Will and Testament and that at the time of the doing thereof he the said Testator was of sound mind memory and understanding to the best of their knowledge observation and belief.
