Scheürer/Scheirÿ/Shirey

This file submitted by: Clarence Shirey.

I published the family genealogy in 1974 [over 2,000 pages!!] and an additional volume in 1977, long before the days of computes and e-mails, and the internet! I'm simply trying to see what else I can find now.

Johann Heinrich Scheürer / Scheirÿ wrote his Last Will & Testament on 22 Oct. 1783, and it was probated on 16 Feb. 1784. He lived in Windsor Twp. with his farm lands also going into Maidencreek Twp., Berks County, PA. He is called "Henry" on most documents.

"Henry" married Susanne (Gabriel), of Windsor Twp., Berks Co., PA. She was the daughter of Paul Gabriel, a wool comber, whose estate documents are dated 1761 -1762, in which she is called the "eldest daughter," along with her husband. Susannah Shyrer (as spelled & written) was alive in the 1790 Census in Windsor Twp., Berks County, PA., with the youngest son still at home.

The Scheürer / Scheire / Scheirÿ family -- [Births have been unlocated for all of the children - estimates would be circa 1750's thru circa 1774 era of time!]

  1. Henry, Jr. was deceased by 17 March 1785, and married Elisabeth ____?____ She may have been a Riegel, for Henry Riegel, "brother-in-law" was the Administrator of the Estate. Henry, Jr. had two children:
