Deed between Jacob Petre and John G. Repplier

This indenture made the twenty sixth day of October in the Year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and eighteen between Jacob Petre of the Borough of Reading, County of Berks and State of Pennsylvania, weaver, and Anna Maria, his wife of the one part, and John G. Repplier of the same place of the other part.

Witnesseth, that the said Jacob Petre and Anna Marie his wife for and in consideration of the sum of Five hundred dollars lawful money of the state of Pennsylvania, to them in hand well and truly paid by the said John G. Repplier at and before the ensealing and delivery hereof, the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge, and thereof do acquit and forever discharge the said John G. Repplier his heirs, executors and Administrators by these presents have granted, bargained, sold, aliened, enfeoffed, released and confirmed and by these presents doth grant bargain, sell, alien, enfeoff, release and confirm unto the said John George Repplier and to his heirs and assigns, all that certain lot of ground situate on the east side of Queen street in the Borough of Reading aforesaid marked in the general plan thereof number two hundred and sixty-eight bounded and described as follows, to wit, Westward by Queen street, northward by lot no. 265, eastward by a twenty feet alley, southward by lot no. 269. Containing in breath [sic] north and south sixty feet and in length east and west two hundred and thirty feet. It being the same which the administrators of Simon Shericker deceased by their attorney James Logan by indenture under his hand and seal dated the twentieth day of August A.D. 1790 for the consideration therein mentioned did grant and confirm unto Jacob Bower Esquire and to his heirs and assigns forever, whereby his assignment written on the back of the above recited indenture dated the thirtieth day of September A.D. 1790 for the consideration therein mentioned did grant and confirm unto Conrad Fesig and to his heirs and assigns forever who by an indenture dated the 6th day of June A.D. 1815 for the consideration therein mentioned did grant and confirm unto the said Jacob Petre (party hereto) and to his heirs and assigns forever. As, in and by said recited indenture and assignment relation thereunto had appear &c.

Together also with all and singular the houses, out-houses, barns, stables, gardens, orchards, meadows, fields, fences, ways, woods, waters, water-courses, rights, liberties, privileges, hereditaments and appurtenances whatsoever thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining.

And the reversions and remainders, rents, issues and profits thereof, and also all the estate, right, title, interest, use, trust, property, possession, claim and demand whatsoever of them the said Jacob Petre and Anna Maria his wife in law or equity, or otherwise howsoever of, in, to or out of the same.

To have and to hold the said lot of ground no. 268, hereditaments and premises hereby granted and released or mentioned or intended so to be, with the appurtenances, unto the said Jno. G. Repplier, his heirs and assigns: To the only proper use and behoof of him the said Jno. G. Repplier his heirs and assigns forever subject to the payment of the yearly ground rent due and becoming due thereon. And the said Jacob Petre for himself his heirs executors and administrators doth covenant, promise, grant and agree to and with the said Jno. G. Repplier, his heirs and assigns, by these presents: That he the said Jacob Petre and his heirs, the said above mentioned and described lot of ground No. 268, hereditaments and premises hereby granted and released, or mentioned, or intended so to be, with the appurtenances, unto the said Jno. G. Repplier his heirs and assigns against him the said Jacob Petre, and his heirs and against all and every person and persons whomsoever lawfully claiming, or to claim the same, or any part or parcel thereof by from or under him, them or any of them shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents.

In witness whereof, the said parties to these presents have hereunto interchangeably set their hands and seals, dated the day and year first above written.

Received--The day of the date of the above written indenture, of and from the above named Jno. G. Repplier, the sum of five hundred dollars in gold and silver money, it being the consideration money above mentioned in full.

Be it remembered, that on the twenty-sixth day of October Anno Domini, 1818 before me, William Schoener Esquire, one of the Justices of the Peace of the said county, personally came the above named Jacob Petre and Anna Maria his wife and acknowledged the above indenture to be their act and deed, and desired that the same might be recorded as such, according to law: The said Anna Maria being of full age, by me in due form of law, examined separate and apart from her said husband and the full contents of the above deed being by me first made know to her and she the said Anna Maria upon such separate examination as aforesaid, declared that she did voluntarily, and of her own free will and accord seal, and as her act and deed, deliver the said deed, without any coercion or compulsion of her said husband. In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal, the day and year above written.
