Conrad Metzger, is the progenitor of a large family. The first record of him is found in the tax list of Maxatawny township, Berks County (1757). There he married an reared a family. Among them was a son Conrad Jr. The pioneer was a farmer near Rothrocksville.
Conrad Jr. after the birth of his son, Jacob in 1776, but prior the the year 1800, had settled in Heideberg township, Lehigh County. His wife Anna Maria, was born Sept. 4, 1745 and died May 12, 1828. She was buried at the graveyard at Heidelberg Church. They had a large family and among their children were; Elizabeth, born 1769, died 1839, she married Conrad Bloss; Eva, born 1770, died also 1839, married J. George Bloss; Jacob, John, and Christian, born May 7, 1789, died July 21, 1854.
Jacob Metzger was born in Maxatawny, July 27, 1776. he died April 17, 1845, he married Anna M. Schlicter, born July 31, 1776 and died April 9, 1860, both are buried at Heidelberg. Children; John, Maria, (1801-1868), married Michael Wehr; Kate, who married Daniel Peter; David; and George.
John Metzger, son of Jacob, was born March 20, 1807, and died Sept. 20, 1889, he married Elizabeth Snyder, d/o Jacob, children; Edwin, Messian, Jonas, Mary, Harrison, Lewis, Moses and Wilson.
Moses, of Heidelberg, born in 1846, he was costodian and care take of the graveyard at the Heidelberg Church. He married in 1872 to Louisa Krause, d/o Daniel and Mary (Klotz) of Heidelberg township, children; Samuel, Alice, married A.J. Harter, Lillie, married Blassius Hoffman, Percy M., of Allentown, Owen, and Harvey, who died at 13.
Owen W. Metzger, of Allentown, shoe merchant, was born April 8, 1882, he married Sadie Fretz, on April 5, 1906, d/o William Fretz of Doylestown.
John Metzger, son of Conrad, was born Oct, 2 1786, he died May 24, 1856. He married Maria, called Polly, nee Siegfried, was born April 18, 1785, died Nov. 13. 1863, the are both buried in the graveyard of Egypt Church. Children; Elias, Nathan, Elizabeth, married Ephraim Burger of North Whitehall, _____ who married Stephen Miller, of Bath, Pa., and Sallie, who married ____Buchman.
Elias Metzger, son of John, was born 182_ and died 1886. He was a blacksmith in Siegersville, his wife was Mary Sieger. Children; John, Clinton, Mary and Samuel.
Nathan Metzger, son of John was born Sept. 8, 1814, he conducted a clothing store. He died Suddenly on Oct. 12, 1877, on his way to call on his friend, Jonas George. He is buried in Union Cemetery, Allentown. He married Rebecca Worman, she was born Feb. 23, 1818, and died Dec. 26, 1884, children, Thomas B. and Maria, who married Dr. Henry Grim of Allentown.
Thomas B. Esq. native of Allentwon, was born Dec, 25, 1839 and died at New Tripoli Oct, 2, 1908. He is buried at Fairview Cemetery. He married Susan Schweitzer, d/o Simon; Children Lillian E., who married John T. Williams, Ralph R., Malcolm, who owned a drug stroe at Bethlehem, Thomas B. of Johnstown.
Heinrich Metzger, son of Conrad, married Catharine Leibensperger. Children; Jacob, John, David, Jonas, Henry (called Harry), Kate, who married P. Fister, and Susan , who married Henry Wickert.
Jacob Metzger, died at Lehighton, he married _____ Hoch, children; Marie, Daniel, and Fianna, who married Levi Fenstermach.
John Metzger, married Lydia Trexler, and had children; William, Alfred, Maria, Lizzie, and another daughter.
David, the 3rd son of Heinrich, was killed by the collapse of bridge, waiting to see Pres. Andrew Jackson in 1866. He married _____Levan,, children; James L., Henry, Alfred, Charles, Emma, Martha, and another daughter whose name was not remembered.
Jonas, 4th son of Heinrich, married Anne Steininger, d/o George. She died aged 75. He died 1901 in Allentown in his 89th year. children; Alfred, Henry, married Elizabeth Acker, George,married Elmira J. Balliet, she died Jan, 1911, William, Rev. Blockadus of Indiana, and Jacob.
