HALDEMAN, STAHLER, WATT posted by Ann Duval on Saturday, July 15, 2000

This may be a needle in a haystack, but we possibly have a connector. SARAH HALDEMAN-STAHLER-WATT (bca 1841, dca 23 Aug 1925) m. DAVID STAHLER. Their children: CHARLES MONROE STAHLER (b. Aug 1859); EMMA STAHLER-BROWN (bca 1859, dca 30 Nov 1925), CLARA STAHLER (bca 1863). David STAHLER was in a Pennsylvania volunteer cavalry unit during the Civil War, was captured at Sulphur Springs, Va., and he was sent to Andersonville Confederate Prison, Macon County, GA., where he died a year later. Let me know if we have family in common.

Magdelena Winter (wife of Elias Berlet) from Bern Twp,Berks Co; married in 1797 - - do you have any record of a Christian Winter, b. 1800; m. 1822; d.1847? I don;t think there were too many Winters around at that time, and I am hoping that perhaps Christian is a nephew of Magdelena. Who are Magdelena's parents? Do you have any names of her siblings?

Had a total of 13 children: Samual, John George, Jacob, William, David, Friederich, Peter, James, Henry, Mary, Catherine, Adam and Elizabeth.

MILLER posted by Myron M. Miller on Saturday, July 15, 2000

My great, great, great grandfather Jacob Miller, was naturalized in the Province of Pennsylvania on September 24, 1765. I understand that he was a member of the Lutheran church in Rockland, Berks County. I want to know (1) when and where he was born, (2) when he arrived in the U.S. (3) the date and place of his marriage; (4) where he owned 60 acres of land. He subsequently moved to Frederick County about 1774. I'd like some help in getting this information, or knowing where to look.

GROMAN, LUNN, REITER, ROELLER posted by Robert B. Croman on Saturday, July 15, 2000

The Bauern Freund was a German Language Newpaper that was published from about 1820 to the early 1900's out of Sumneytown, Montgomery Co and was widely
read by the Pa "Dutch" population of the Perkiomen Region (both in Montgomery Co and Bucks Co and possibly Berks and Lehigh).
I have seen on the internet a listing of death notices appearing in Der Bauern Freund for the time period 1828 to 1836. Rev John George Roeller's name is mentioned
several times as officiating at the Funerals. However I do not have the WEB address and cannot reaccess the information. Does anyone know the WEB address. I
would be very grateful for the information. I imagine others could use the information also.
In addition I have seen a compilation of marriage notices listed in the Bauern Freund for approximately the same period which were republished in the small magazine
called "The Perkiomen Region" appearing in the 1920's.
Again if someone reading this knows the WEB address (URL?) I would be very thankful.

Daniel Klahr 65 Farmer

Daniel Bordner 7 ( I'm not sure if that name is right

ARENTS, DUMM posted by Shirley Maynard on Saturday, July 15, 2000

I have Solomon DUM, born 18 April 1815 in Berks Co., PA to Valentine DUM and Magdaline AREN/ARENTS. Valentine and Mag. were married 2 Apr. 1799. Valentine was the son of Caspar and Eva DUM and his wife was the daughter of Jacob and Margaret ARENTS. Solomon, I believe, is the same man who married Julian and appeared in the 1860 Bedford Co., PA census with my great grandmother, Elizabeth Salone TOMS/THOMS/TOMES. Lizzie had a baby sister, Julian Margaret, born 1858. Would anyone have knowledge of what happened to Solomon Dum, the son of Valentine? Are there further records in the Goshenhoppen Church on Solomon to say he died or was married or moved, whatever? The AIS completely ignores Solomon Toms in whatever spelling I try until 1850 in MD.

COLLER, KOLLER posted by James Freeman on Saturday, July 15, 2000

My research into the KOLLER line in Berks County is pretty scant. I have a page from an old family bible with some birth and death info on people but nothing that tells relationships between them. Here are some of the names I have from this list with birth dates: Augustus F. Koller, b. 1853; Lillian H Koller, b. 19 June 1876; Edgar H Koller, b. 11 Aug 1878; Joseph W. Koller, b. 30 Apr 1881; Annie Koller, b. 14 Jan 1884; Robert H Koller, b. 18 Feb 1892; Emily Koller, b. 28 Oct 1897. Not sure if any of this will be of use to you. What's interesting is that on the "Deaths" page, the surname is spelled COLLER for the same people. If any of these names tie into your research efforts please let me know.

LOI posted by Beth on Saturday, July 22, 2000

Hi, my family and I have recently searched ancestry.com for the Loi last name during it's free trial period. We found an Adam Loi in Berks Co, Albany Twnshp, in the 1820 census. We are VERY interested in this record because the only Loi we knew of here in this area is an Adam Loi who showed up in Louisville, KY, in the 1860 census. We don't have a clue how to find out specifics about this 1820 record without traveling to PA. Can anyone help us with this in some way?
