BILGER, STARR, WILSON posted by Suzanne Thompson on Thursday, June 15, 2000

I'm looking for information on my great grandparents, William Wilson and Caroline A. or Carol Ann Star(r). Both were probably born in the mid 1800's and they had a daughter, Ruth Ann Wilson (Bilger) who ultimately lived in Weikert, Pa. Ruth Ann taught school near Weikert in the early 1900's. Caroline could have very well been from Berks County. My great grandfather's people started out in Philadelphia.
I found you message to be of interest because my great grand parents in the 1920's were in the Church of the Bretheren, and identified as Dunkards. The Bretheren were closely allied in spirit and belief to the Quakers and Mennonites.

FELTY, SHOLLENBERGER, ZWEIZIG posted by Gil Gililland on Thursday, June 15, 2000

Hi. My name is Gil Gililland and I am researching my wife's family, the Feltys. Her grandfather, John W. Felty (1860-1933), married twice. Both times in Berk County. The first time, on May 26, 1887 to Lizzie A. Shollenberger(1863-1903). The marriage certificate list Lizzie's father as Augustus R. Shollenberger. The minister was the Reverend Benjamin D. Zweizig.

On September 6, 1905, John W. married Anna Zweizig (1864-1942). On the marriage certificate, her father is listed as Reverend Benjamin D. Zwiezig.

The family has always referred to Anna Zweizig Felty as "Cousin Annie". I know there must be a connection here somewhere between the Zweizigs and the Shollenbergers, but I can't seem to find it.

Appreciate any help you give. Will respond in kind. Feel free to email me at rgilill369@aol.com.

Thanks......Gil

Abraham SIEGFRIED, born 1764 in Maxatawny Twp, Berks Co, was married about 1785 to (Maria) Dorothy KUTZ. In 1792 they left Maxatawny and settled in East Allen Twp. Their log cabin is still standing near the western boundary of Bath, and is now being restored. It's really worth seeing!

Abraham died in 1802 and his wife died 30 years later. It is believed that they were both buried in the small private Siegfried Cemetery on the north side of what is now Main Street, at the western end of Bath. However, many of the headstones are now missing or in such poor condition that the names on them are illegible. Is there any researcher out there in cyberspace who has found their true burial place?

KUTZ, WEISNER, WESNER posted by David Knighting on Thursday, June 15, 2000

Looking for the parentage of my g-g-g-grandfather John Weisner born about 1841 in PA. He moved to VA in the 1860's where he married twice, 1st in 1870's to my ancestress Hannah Rebecca Lucas and had 2 kids, Frank & Ida. Secondly he married Amanda Higgs and had some more children including a son named Cyrus. All I know is that John's parents were named John & Sarah.

Recently I found, on the Mormon Ancestral file, a man named
John Weisner, the son of John & Sarah Kutz-Weisner, of Berks Co, PA and he had a brother named Franklin and another brother named Cyrus. So what I need is a verification of this theory, and any extra info on the Kutz and Weisner families

COCHRAN, SOUSLEY posted by Maryanne MIlls on Thursday, June 15, 2000

In 1790, there is a David Sousley in Mount Pleasant Township, Westmoreland County. Is this the David Sousley who served in the Pennsylvania Regiment with John Finley and who later moved to the Blue Licks area of Fleming County, Kentucky?

David may be named George David Sousley since he also had a son of this name. The son was born about 1789 in Pennsylvania. He married Isabella Cochran, born about 1790, the daughter of Robert Cochran. This line of Cochrans comes from Chester County, Pennsylvania. Both the Cochrans and the Sousleys were in Fleming County, Kentucky by 1806, the year George David married Isabella.

The 1800 Berks County, Pennsylvania census lists a George Sousley with 2 sons under age 10, and 3 daughters under age 10.

Does anyone have information about David Sousley or George Sousley or George David Sousley?

I am also researching the Cochrans of Cochranville and Chester County, Pennyslvania.

BILGER, STARR, WILSON posted by Suzanne Thompson on Thursday, June 15, 2000

Dear Peggy,

I came across your entry and was wondering whether you have any information on the Starr lineage... Specifically a Caroline A. or Carol Ann Star(r) who married a William Wilson in the latter half of the 1800's (my great grandparents). William Wilson was born in Philadelphia probably about 1845-55 and there is no further information about her, although it is likely that she was born in Berks or surrounding counties. Their daughter, Ruth Ann Wilson Bilger, was my grandmother settles in Wiekert, Pa. She was a school teacher in the early 1900's before she married.

Anything here sound familiar? You are the only Starr's I've found around here.

At this time it appears that Phillip Henry PROBST may not be whom I am looking for. My GGrandfather should have been born abt. 1880.

The story I was told is that when my PROBST married a SCOTT, he was in the shipping business. Later he grew tobacco and also raised dogs somewhere in Virginia. Not much to go on at this time. Hopefully when my requests for documents come back I'll have some more answers. Thank you for your time and information. If I find a connection to your line I will send the information your way.
