Sat Jan 16 03:33:53 1999
E-mail: Polly Custer
Query: CUSTER I am looking for specifics on Reuben Custer,
b. PA about 1792, son of Peter Custer and Elizabeth Fleisher, who were
married in Berks County then moved to Virginia (WV). Here is what I know:
1. Reuben lived in Berkeley County VA for at least part of his life. 2.
While in Berkeley County, he was married to Cassia (sic. Kasia, Cavira,
Cassie) and fathered several children. 3. Listed as the oldest child of
Reuben is Jonathan, b. in PA about 1818, who lived in Berkeley County,
as well. 4. 1850 census for Berkeley County does not show Reuben or Cassia,
but it shows Jonathan, age 33, living with 'Mrs. J', age 40, and these
children (all of whom are children of Reuben and Cassia): Peter (age 25,
b. VA), John (age 20, b. VA), James (age 18, b. VA), William (age 12),
Jacob (age 9), David (age 5), and Elizabeth (age 15). This would appear
that big brother Jonathan and his wife are caring for the Reuben and Cassia
brood. 5. The 1860 census shows Jonathan, age 42, living with Cavira (age
61...his mother?), and brothers James, William, Jacob, and David. 6. In
1863, Jonas Custer, (age 46 and single son of Reuben and Hannah, b. PA),
married Sarah A. Fletcher Keller (age 37 widow, daughter of Wm. and Mary
Fletcher) in Berkeley County. 7. 1870 census shows Cassia (age 70) head
of household with Jacob (age 26), David (age 24), William (age 29), Lydia
(age 16 ..(she would be the daughter Peter and wife Elizabeth Fletcher
(not Fleisher!) and the grandaughter of Reuben and Cassia) and Sarah C.
(age 6). 1870 shows Jonathan (age 52) with wife Sarah A. and children John
(age 4), and Jacob (age 2). 8. Reuben is the brother of John, who married
Rachel Morgan. John and Rachel returned to PA after living in Berkeley
County, and John died in PA. With this information, here are my questions:
1. Reuben, son of Peter and Elizabeth, married someone named Hanna in PA
before marrying Cassia, and fathered Jonathan [Jonas] in the early 1800's.
Who was she, and were there more children? 2. Berkeley County records do
not show the marriage of Reuben and Cassia. Did this occur in PA after
1818 and before 1825? 3. Reuben disappeared from Berkeley County records
before 1850. Did Reuben and Cassie possibly return to PA as did his brother?
Did Reuben die in PA, and Cassie returned to WV to be with her family?
4. When and where did Reuben die? I've scoured Berkeley County death records
and found no Reuben. 5. Who was the 'Mrs. J' listed in the 1850 census
as wife of Jonathan, when did he marry her? Did Jonathan also return to
PA before 1850 and marry the "Mrs. J." on the Berkeley County census? It
seems information on Reuben's early life will clear up many of these questions.
I appreciate any help I can get. Thanks, Polly Custer

Kerperien- Robinson
Query: My query is hard.I am going to have to start with
recent history. My mothers names is Lila Lee Kerperien nee Moyer. She was
born Sept 14,1929. Her fathers name was Charles Danial Moyer, his dad was
Danial. My mom thinks that he came from a large family from Berks Co. Charles
Danial married a Mabel Shaak from Lebanon Co, that is where my mom was
born. My mom also had a brother named Kenneth Moyer, he lived in Philly
until he died a couple of years ago. He had two sons and two daughters.
The sons name are Kenneth Jr. and David. I only remeber the youngest Daughters
name it is Kathy. Charles divorced Mabel and married a woman named Helen,
I don't know if she was from Pa or not, but they lived in Arizona. My mom
is getting on in years and is not in that great of health, she would like
to know some of her family roots, since my father has done the Genealogy
on his family name. If anyone can help please Email me.

Query: Help! I am looking for information on the last names
of Henney, or Henderson. In 1807 or 1808 George Henney was born in Berks
County, PA. He died in 1862 as George Henderson. We are seeking information
as to why he changed his name from Henney to Henderson. We also know that
he had brothers, Frank Henderson, and Patrick Henderson. There maybe a
chance that they may still be living, or the next of kin. Someone had once
told us that they thought that George changed his name from Henney to Henderson
because he was in trouble with the law ! ! Any information would be greatly
appreciated. Tammy
