May is Really Merry Month for Happy Pair
_____________________ Aged Couple Observe Wedding Anniversary and Birthdays ________________________ Special to The Pittsburgh Press East Brady, Pa., May 11 - The current calendar is dotted with happy dates for Mr. and Mrs. D. S. HEPLER. No sooner is one celebration through than another one comes up for the couple. On April 30, Mr. HEPLER celebrated his eighty-second birthday. On May 3, he and Mrs. HEPLER were honored on their sixtieth wedding aniversary. On May 23, Mrs. HEPLER will be 82. The couple was married in Freeport, PA., on May 3, 1876 by Rev. J. H. A. Kitzmiller. Mr. HEPLER was a miner at that time but later spent many years as a driller in the gas and oil fields of Pennsylvania. Because both he and his wife liked farm life, they saved their money and bought a farm in East Brady where they have spent their leisure years. Secret of their long years of happiness together, Mrs. Mary NEGLEY HEPLER explains, is that she has always been interested in her husband's work-helped him to save so they would have a home of their own and be independent when they grew old. They are the parents of five daughters and one son, have 18 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Mrs. HEPLER was a granddaughter of Caspar NEGLEY of the pioneer NEGLEY family of Pittsburgh. |
