son of James Alexander and Sue (Thompson) Smith; educated in public schools of Pittsburg; married at Pittsburg July 17, 1900, Miss Lulie Robbins. Began business career in Pittsburg; was connected with New York office of American Sheet
and Tin Plate Co., 1900-02, in Pittsburg office of the company, 1902-04, and has been in charge of Detroit district for the company since fall of 1904. Member Detroit Board of Commerce. Republican. Club: Detroit.
