McGrew, John, Miss Elizabeth Case McGrew No 3334 Ward St Oakland Pittsburgh Pa Aug 11, 1924
the manuscript history of the McGrew family which is enclosed in pasteboard
covers each side being an inch longer than this book & the leaves same size as
this are each pierced with three holes like loose leaf binding & can be easily
removed. On the 5th leaf is the record of John McGrew & wife Mary Thompson's
children from which I copy as follows: It being the first family record given
following the first four leaves, eight pages of index.
John McGrew of William, grandson of Robert, born Nov 9, 1766 ob July 23, 1848
married Mary Thompson 1788 at Greensburg Pa, moved the same year to near
Georgetown, Ky. In 1790, he joined in a campaign against the Indians of the
Maumee Valley. He was in the bloody & disastrous battle at the Maumee Ford,
near the present site of Fort Wayne.
In 1796, he moved his family to Montgomery Co Ohio, five miles south of
Dayton. Mary Thompson McGrew died & he married again.

2. Samuel T. McGrew born Mch 24, 1790 died July 28, 1853 married Mary Stebbins
3. Archibald McGrew born Aug 24, 1792 married Mary Thompson who was born Oct
30, 1793.
4. James McGrew born Aug 7, 1794 died Apr 27, 1804
5. John McGrew born July 18, 18796 married Phebe Stebbins
6. Margaret McGrew born Nov 3, 1798 married Wall died Dec 23, 1817
7. Bracken McGrew born May 11, 1801, died Feby 19, 1813
8. Mary McGrew born July 20, 1803, died Dec 11, 1873, married Barton R. Keep
who was born Aug 20, 1797 & died Feby 7, 1877
9. Milton McGrew born Dec 5, 1805 died Oct 27, 1868 married Feby 5, 1829 Anna
Russell who was born July 15, 1807 & died Mch 28, 1890
10. Rebecca McGrew born July 29, 1808 married Edwin Corlis
By the 2d wife were three children not desired by me viz:
11. Elizabeth McGrew born June 12, 1818 died Mch 6, 1892 married Logan Sleeper
12. James McGrew born May 5, 1820 mar Mary A. Binhtey [best guess]
13. Esther Jane McGrew born Mch 15, 1822 married Samuel Neibel
Elizabeth Blackford born Dec 30, 1782 was married to Elijah Stebbins Nov 19,
1799
Their children were: Mary, Phebe, Jeremiah, Levi && Elijah
The husband, Elijah Sr died Oct 29, 1809. May 8, 1817 she married John
McGrew. He had ten children & she had five (and I might add they had three
more).
Samuel T. McGrew married Mary Stebbins & his brother John married Mary's sister
Phoebe, so the mother & two daughters married the father & two sons.
