Dean, William Blake, St Paul. Res 353 Summit av. Merchant. Born Sept 26, 1838 in Pittsburg Pa, son of William and Aurelia (Butler) Dean. Was educated in the public schools of Pittsburg Pa and Bolmars Academy of West Chester Pa. Is head of the firm of Nicols, Dean & Gregg whol hardware; has been in business since 1860; has been a member of the city Board of Fire Comnrs, Water Comnrs, Education and Public Library Boards. Was presidential elector on Blaine and Logan ticket; state senator 1891 to 1895; a member of the monetary commission appointed by the Indianapolis Convention, through whose work Congress adopted the gold standard. Dir in the Great Northern Railroad; Second Nat'l Bank; State Savings Bank; N W Trust Co; St Paul F & M Ins Co; Oakland Cemetery and McCormick Theological Seminary of Chicago. Member of the Minnesota, Town and Country and Commercial clubs.
