CIVAL WAR, TWO HUNDRED & SECOND REGIMENT

Contributed by Vi P. Limric

The regiment was organized at Camp Curtin, Harrisburg to serve one

year, on 3 Sep 1864 under Colonel Charles Albright. Company B was

made up entirely of Juniata Co. Men. On the 10 they left and

Harrisburg to Chambersburg Pa. and on the 30 started for Alexandria

Va. They were used to guard the Manassas Gap Railroad which was

used to transport supplies for the Army of the Shenandoah. When a

train was thrown off the track and several soldiers were wounded,

the troops burned all the houses within a mile. Afterwards the

rebel people safeguarded all trains.

In Dec they moved to Fairfax and guarded the Orange & Alexandria

Railroad. They saw no fighting except for occasional skirmishing

with guerrillas. In May 1865 the regiment moved to Pa. and were

posted at Tamaqua and other sections in the anthracite region.
