HARRISON "HARRY" MAHAN
1840 - 1908
LANDER. Aug. 3.--Harry Mahan, Sr., passed away at his home here July 31st. at the age of 68 years. Mr. Mahan was born and spent his life here and was loved and respected by the whole community, who with his family will mourn his death. A widow, three sons and two daughters survive him.
Also noted in the same "Lander" column: David Beatty and wife and William Rankin and wife, of Warren, attended the funeral of Harry Mahan here Sunday.

JAMES MAHAN
1823 - 1911
RUSSELL, Nov. 9.--Warren County has lost one of its oldest and highly respected citizens in the death of James Mahan which occurred at 11:20 o'clock this morning at his home west of Russell, after a short illness.
Mr. Mahan was born in the town of Farmington, December 22, 1823, the son of John and March Burgett Mahan and died within a short distance of his birth place. Deceased is survived by one son, Willard Mahan, one daughter, Mrs. H. H. Cowles, two brothers, David Mahan and Peter Mahan all of Farmington township.
He was a staunch supporter of the old Congregational church of Lander until it burned three years ago.
The funeral will be held from his late home Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Rev. Mr. Green, pastor of the Baptist church of Busti will officiate. Interment will be made in Forest cemetery.

ALDEN MARSH
1874
MARSH.--In Youngsville, Pa., on the 14th inst., Alden Marsh, aged 63 years and 10 months.
Mr. Marsh held the office of Commissioner of Warren county, for three terms in succession. At his last election he received all the votes of his own town but four. For kindness of heart and honest integrity in all his dealings he had no superiors and few equals. His funeral was largely attended by the citizens of the surrounding country. The I. O. O. F. of Youngsville and Warren attended in a body, and buried his remains according to the very appropriate forms and ritual of that Order, on Sunday, the 17th. Sermon by Rev. O. B. Clark, of this place, assisted by Rev. Mr. Hill, Chaplain of Youngsville Lodge.

LIZZIE L. McGILL
1879 - 1898
MET A TERRIBLE DEATH.
Mrs. William McGill Burned to Death Near Newton Station.
Mrs. William McGill, whose husband has charge of an oil lease near Newton station, on the line of the D. A V. & P, for L. B. Wood & Co., and who resided on the property, met with a terrible death Friday morning either by an explosion of natural gas or from the accumulation of gasoline in the gas line. When found, she was dead and her home in flames.
It is supposed that the gas pipe through which the supply of fuel gas for the house was conveyed from a well located about 400 feet from the dwelling was partially frozen shut and that the valve at the stove was opened to the fullest extent, that every available bit of gas could pass through. If such was the case, the line thawed out yesterday and the pressure of gas which had been kept within the well or the gasoline in the line was forced into the stove and very likely caused an explosion by which Mrs. McGill's clothes were set on fire and the house also ignited and consumed by the flames.
The unfortunate lady had only been married about a year, and her terrible death is an awful shock to her husband. Mrs. McGill formerly resided at Grand Valley.

HUGH ANDREW McGRAW
1885 - 1957
Hugh Andrew McGraw, life long resident of Tidioute, died Sunday at Warren General Hospital. He was born July 29, 1885 at McGraw, son of William and Clara Kelsey McGraw. He was married July 27, 1910 to Agnes Morrison, who preceded him in death January 12, 1946.
Surviving are a daughter, Harriet; four sons, Hugh L., William, Walter, and Joseph, all of Tidioute; 12 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Clara Morrison, Mrs. Margaret Morrison, Tidioute; a brother, Benjamin, of Oklahoma City, Okla.
Services will be held at 10:00 a. m. Wednesday in Tidioute, with interment in St. Catherine Cemetery, Titusville.

JOHN McKEEL
About 1874 - 1908
The death of John McKeel occured at the Kane Summit Hospital Tuesday evening. Deceased was born in Warren and resided here the greater portion of his life. He was 34 years of age and tuberculosis was the cause of death.
The remains were brought from Kane at 1:30 o'clock this afternoon and the interment will be Thursday afternoon at two o'clock from the residence of T. T. Keelor, Fourth street. Deceased is survived by two sisters, Mrs. E. L. Leonhart and Mrs. T. T. Keelor, both of Warren.

A WARREN COUNTY PIONEER DEAD.
James McKinney Dies at His Home Near Meadville Monday.
In its account of the death of James McKinney, father of Geo. R. McKinney of this city, the Titusville Herald says:
James McKinney, one of the pioneers of Warren county, where he was born on September 28, 1810, died at his home near Meadville Monday morning, of old age. Deceased was the son of John McKinney, one of the earliest settlers of Warren county, where he came in 1790 with General John W. Irvine as a member of the state commission appointed to lay out the town of Warren. It was for many years afterwards his home and that of his family, where he became honored and respected as do few men for his genial hospitality and sterling qualities of mind and heart. His good wife was a niece of that famous hunter, Daniel Boone, and a daughter of General Arthur, who was killed in the early days of the present century along the banks of the Susquehanna by the Indians, when that now thickly settled and properous section of the state was a howling wilderness. James McKinney, deceased, was one of the seven sons, and was the last survivor of them all. One sister, Mrs. Wade, survives him, with her home at Youngsville, Warren county. Deceased grew to manhood in Warren county, where he acquired large lumber and farming interests, as had his father before him. In 1865 he removed from Warren county, and come [sic] to Crawford county, where he has since lived upon a pleasantly located farm in Mead township, near Meadville.
Deceased was a quiet, unassuming gentleman, the soul of honor and held in high regard by a very wide circle of friends. His aged wife survives him, as do six children, five sons, John L. and James C., of this city; George R. of Wraren [sic]; Henry, of Butler; Herbert, of Eldred, and one daughter, Mrs. Clausen, of Chicago.
The funeral took place Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock from the late home of the deceased.

MRS. JAMES McKINNEY
1898
Mrs. James McKinney died at her home in Meadville on Friday evening at the age of 82 years. She leaves one daughter, Mrs. Harry Clawson, of Chicago, and five sons, J. R. and J. C. of Titusville, Geo. R. of Warren, H. B. of Butler county and H. R. of Mercer county. The funeral was held this afternoon in Meadville at one o'clock.

MRS. JAMES L. McKINNEY
1888 - 1918
The death of Mrs. James L. McKinney occurred at the home 26 Water street, at 3:45 Tuesday afternoon, following a short illness of influenza, aged 29 years, 4 months, 21 days. Mrs. McKinney before her marriage was Miss Ora Durnell of Warren and has lived the greater part of her life here. She is survived by her husband, James L. McKinney, a young daughter, Ora, her mother, one sister and three brothers. The funeral will be held privately Friday at one o'clock. Burial will be made in the Youngsville cemetery.

The remains of Mrs. James L. McKinney of Warren were brought to this place Friday for interment. The deceased had been sick but a short time with influenza. She is survived by her husband, James L. McKinney, formerly of this place, one daughter, Ora, her mother, one sister and three brothers.

MRS. ALBERTA McMANUS
1878 - 1948
Mrs. Alberta McManus, widow of Hiram McManus, died at her home on the Big Four road at 3 p.m. Thursday, aged 70 years. She was born in Russell on May 30, 1878, and had spent her entire lifetime in this vicinity.
Surviving are one brother and three sisters: Mrs. Emma Beebe, Warren; Mrs. Carrie Beach, North Warren; Mrs. Rozella Wright, Russell, and Albert Collins, of Paso, Wash.; also nine nieces and two nephews.
Removal has been made to the Peterson Funeral Home, where friends may call at the usual hours and from where services will be held at two o'clock Sunday afternoon. Interment will be made in Pine Grove cemetery at Russell.

CLARE E. MIX
1878 - 1910
Lander, Pa., Oct. 19--The funeral of Clare Mix was held Saturday from the M. E. church, Rev. J. Green spoke comforting words to the sorrowing relatives. The pall bearers were Jay Cowels, Ward Hitchcock, Marvin Rowley, Carl Nodthrop, Emil Peterson and Harry Mahan. There were many beautiful flowers on and around the casket. The eath of this young man has cast a gloom over this community where he was born and has always resided, and much sympathy is felt for the young widow, aged parents and two sisters, who are left to mourn his early death.

On the 1910 U.S. Federal census, taken on April 15th, he and his new bride were living on "County Road" in Farmington township; he was 31, she was 24. His occupation: lineman for the telephone. Clare was buried in the Union Grove Cemetery.]
Theodore T. MOLL
1863 - 1938
Mrs. Josephine Guiton of this city received word late Tuesday of the death of her brother, Theodore T. Moll, a well known resident of Russell. Warren county, which occurred at 3 p. m. Tuesday in the Kane community hospital. Mr. Moll was nearly 75 years old and a life-long resident of Russell. He was head of the Moll Rendering Works for nearly fifty years and served the past twenty years as president of the Pine Grove township school board. He was a 32d degree Mason and member of the M. E. church. He leaves his wife, four children, four grandchildren and three sisters. Funeral services will be conducted from the Russell M. E. church.
