"Located on the right side of Indian Camp Run Road T-438. It is 1.1 miles from the intersection of Brown Hill Road 61065/4013 at the IOOF Cemetery. It is on the hillside about 50 years into the woods.

Old John Andrews Farm Cemetery (Irvine Farm)

"From the WCHS: First rural cemetery in Warren County was upon a little knoll or swell of ground, upon the Irvine Flats, but little, if any above the high water mark, without grant or right, or anything to mark or isolate it, except a swale or swamp in the rear. At this inappropriate place, without note or comment, fence or headstone, lie interred the ancestors of some who hear me today.

Gilford Farm Burial Plot (aka Gibson Cemetery)

"From Route 6 at Weldbank take Cherry Grove Road 61032/2001 towards Cherry Grove to Sorenson Rd. T-524 just before the village of Cherry Grove turn left. Travel down Sorenson Road to "T". Turn Right (generally traveled direction). Look for first dirt road on the right about 1/8 mile. (If you come to "T" intersection with Sheffield Rd 61031/2002 you went too far). Burial site is at the end of dirt road on the left at a tree.

Note: Present land owner does not want visitors.

Condition heavy growth."

Sorenson Family Burial (aka Aber Family Burial)

"From Highway 6 at Weldbank, Pa. take Cherry Grove Road 61032/2001 towards Cherry Grove to Sorenson Road T-524 just before the village of Cherry Grove (and past the Cherry Grove Cemetery). Turn left and travel down Sorenson Road to the "T". Turn left onto the Sorenson's driveway. This very small family plot is behind their home. Excellent care."

Columbus Township

Old Bear Lake Cemetery

"Located in the woods on the East side of the village of Bear Lake at the "Y" intersection of Greeley Street 61017/4004 and Pine Valley Road 61018/4007 follow the fence line to the south about 200 yards into the woods. One tall tombstone which had fallen over was all that could be found. An old building foundation was near by [sic] but the reported iron fence is gone. The "Bear Lake 50th Anniversary" book says the cemetery was started by the Bordwell Family. Local residence [sic ] reported that many headstones had been found in the village being used for other things. AT [sic ] one time there were several grave markers there. No care."

Zaccheus Raymond Private Burial

"This is a single grave of a Revolutionary Soldier. It is located on highway 6 just .5 miles from the intersection of Blue Uey Road 61015/4005 towards Columbus or 1 mile from Backus Corners; the crossroads of Croby Road T-358. The grave is approzximatly [sic] 50 yards on the bank to the south under a (small) tree all enclosd in a pipe fence. It is marked with a head and foot stone. Condition: Field is mowed but inside fence tall grass."

Newmaker Burials

"Location of these graves could not be verified but the following description is from the WCHS files: 'This utterly abandoned cemetery is in Game Refuge B. Now State Game Lands. To find it take the Tidioute Road out of Pittsfield (Davy Hill Rd.) 61012. Drive 4 miles to the top of the hill and turn left onto dirt road T-642. Go down that road until you come to a very wide forestry road on the right. Go up the forestry road to the barrier gate and park. Walk on down that road about a mile to a point where the road bears to the left just slightly. Go into the forest at the right and serch [sic]. About 300 feet before you come to the cemetery an old farm road leads right.'

The 1989 Plat Book shows a cemetery location on the Steven J. Bosko porperty on the township line."

"The following information has not been verified. Located on Route 27 at the village of Starr just before the intersection road 61008/3015. Coming from Garland on the right. It is located on the current property of Raymond Helicker between his house and the Old State highway storage area. It is in a small clump of trees which is now cluttered with junk by the land owner. At one time there were several gravestones.

Eck Family Burial

"Located on the first curve of the Cole Hill Road 61050/1010 from the Scandia School at the intersection of Scandia road 61037/1013. This is about 3/4 Mile. The graves are next to lilac bushes on the left with no markers. It is reported that they would have been buried there about 1890-1900.

Note: The intersection of the old Joe Jones road is on the right.

Hodge Run Lone Burials

"Information from WCHS: The mouth of Hodge Run is now, after the building of the Kinzua Dam in 1963-65, much, much farther up the hill to the west than it was when it flowed into the Allegheny River instead of the resevoir [sic]. These graves, since they were uncared for, and hidden in the forest, were probably never moved along with the other cemeteries in the Kinzua Valley, and they are no doubt under water now.

Thompson Hill Cemetery

"Located on Thompson Hill Road T-490 about 200 yards from the intersection with Valentine Run Road 61062/1004. This intersection is at the old school building at Putnamville which is about 2 1/2 miles from Highway 62. The cemetery will be on the west. Excellent care."

Mead Township

Dixon Burial Plot

Location could not be confirmed. From WCHS files: "This is an abandoned burial plot up the River Road on Property now owned by Mr. Mazzu. It is back of the gravel pit. Children of Jehiel Dixon and some others....maybe more stones under the surface. Belonged to Jacob Hook and his heirs. Recorded in 1954 by Charles S. Hudson. In Oct. 1955 the Anna Arthur Stone had dissappeared [sic]. By Oct. 1956 all tombstones had been removed. This is the only burial spot in Mead that had remaining stones."

Pittsfield Township

Barton Burial Plot

Location could not be found. The following information from WCHS files: "Completely overgrown. It was necessary to crawl in on hands and knees-poke about among the ground hog mounds and locate what stones one could find. (1951) This cemetery is located about a mile from Pittsfield on the Maor Durlin Farm. Mr. Durlin used to keep it clear but he is over eighty now and just can't do it. The burials are mostly of the family of Joel Barton but there are also Stricklands and Greens. The plot is fenced in. Keep on Route 6 to Barton Run Road just beyond the Motor Court in the eastern outskirt of town.

Note: Barton Run Road T-441 is the road the Warren Co. Fair Ground is located on and the directions should read "northern outskirt of town."

Spring Creek Township

Cobbs Corners Cemetery
(aka Jewell Cemetery)

"This cemetery was located on property of Hays (now Young). The stones were all removed and the area plowed. At one time some stones were being used as sidewalks by neighors. The records of the cemetery were at the Cobbs Corner Community Church but the building has been destroyed. Location of any records could not abae [sic] determined if they even still exist. A memorial was placed there to remember the early residences in 1973."

Johnson Farm Burial

"Located on Jenks Road T-326 (formally Downey Road) about 100 yards south of the Picadilly Hill Road 61014/4001 and 100 yards west of Jenks Road.

The plot could not be located but the WCHS files indicate a child of Henry and Sarah (Lloyd) Johnson Jan. 1902/May 1902 was buried there. It was in a fruit orchard and surrounded by a row of trees planted by his father and marked with a slab of sandstone. The trees have been cut down and the original farm house is gone and a new house is on the east side of the road. A barn still remains on the west."

Swart Farm Burial

"Location was not confirmed.

The following is from the WCHS file: 'This unmarked and abandoned grave is on the farm once known as the John Swart Farm on Picadilly Hill. Now owned by Grandson Ralph Swart. The grave is presumed to be that of a son of Danial [sic] and Samantha Wright who settled on Picadilly Hill near 1840. He died 1860-65 and was burried [sic] by the road side. A cobble stone and small Hemlock marked the site. It was near the crest of the hill about 1 mile from the intersection of Picadilly Hill Road 61014/4001 and Route 77.'

Note: With reference to the cobble stone and small Hemlock "..by the roadside in front of the old abondoned [sic] Swart farm house is a large bushey Hemlock with grave at base. The cobble stone is no longer there."

Taff Farm Hill Burial

"Located in the northeast corner of the township on land once owned by the Taffs which is now owned by Carl Howe. It is off the left at a driveway on T-336 between Brooks Rocks Road and the Freehold township line (sign).

Note: Brooks Rocks Road is just north of the intersection of Green Hill Road T-517 and Eldred Hill Road T-336 at Brookshill.

The cemetery is near a pond and the property is posted. Obtain permission before visiting. Condition was not confirmed."

Sugar Grove Township

Clark Family Burial Plot

This is a family plot with just two tombstones, those of Green Clark and his son Alanson Clark. "Located just outside Sugar Grove on Route 69, on the left as you are going into Sugar Grove from Warren. No care."

Jones/Mattison Private Burial

"Located on Patchen Hill, the first left hand road of Youngsville from Mathews Run Road. Two markers J. E. Mattison Co. F 157 Pa. Inft. John F. Jones 1824-1898 age 74 Sarah A. (his wife) 1829-1915 age 86. Several unmarked graves in heavy growth." This information was gleaned from the files at the Warren County Historical Society; Lee Dosser was not able to find this very small cemetery.

Unnamed Burial

"Located on property currently owned by Roger Theline which borders the west side of the Jackson Valley Country Club. Several Stones [sic] mark the location south of Jackson Run and the golf course is visible. The county club is located on route 69 Jackson Run Road between North Warren and Sugar Grove, Pa. No care."

Triumph Township

St. John Farm Burials

According to Lee R. Dosser's "Cemeteries of Warren County," there are "just 4 headstones of St. John Family members." The Warren County Historical Society's card file contains information that "One is Magaretta, wife of Nathan St. John of Columbus, a Revolutionary Soldier."

Driving directions from the Hickory Street bridge in Warren: go west on Pennsylvania Ave W/US-6 (business route) along the Allegheny River. US Hwy 62 will join with US 6 before you leave Warren and the highways will become a free-access 4-lane. Drive through Starbrick and continue west. MORE COMING SOON!

From "Cemeteries of Warren County," published in 1990, are these specific directions: This cemetery is located 2.45 miles on Buckley Road (T373) off route 27 between Torpedo and Grand Valley. It is on the right along a camp road on the west edge of the pine planting. It is about 100 yards down the camp road at the foot of an old pine tree on the left. If you pass an old camp or reach a large clearing, you have gone too far.

Valentine Farm Burials

"Cemeteries of Warren County" contains the following information: "Although the graves were not found - they are there. Locations [sic] directions will be beginning at the Gorman Cemetery driveway as it is located farther down the Gorman Road (T-303). Follow Gorman Road until you come to the next cross road which will be old Youngsville Road (T-362). As you continue thru [sic] the intersection on Gorman Road there is an open field on the left and then the woods begin. The graves are in there [sic] woods between the starting of the woods and the spring run. Mr. Tom Martin whose farm you have just passed knows the exact location.

No care - forest covering."

Ralph Fry Burial

"Exact location was not confirmed but reported to be in the vicinity of Hearts Content/Dunham Siding. Died 1985 age 80."

Watson Burial Plot

"Located on Route 337/61030/3005 .9 miles inside the Watson-Pleasant Township line on the left as you drive from Warren. This is the old Connarrow Farm and the plot is located in the remains of an apple orchard among the pine trees 150 ft. from the road directly across from a camp. There is only one tombstone which has the top broken off. Inscription - Hannah J. Wife of S. E. Rume, J & H. M. Connarrow Died December 1, 1876, age 22 yrs. 2 mo. 16 days. Heavy growth, no upkeep."
