Easily overlooked, Lenhart Cemetery is very small and hidden on a hillside above U.S. highway 62 at the intersection of Gunderville Road, between Irvine and Tidioute.

Driving directions from the Hickory Street bridge in Warren (about 8 miles; 13 minutes): drive south across the Hickory Street bridge and at the traffic light at the end of the bridge, turn left onto Crescent Park road. Turn right onto US 6-W and drive almost 6 miles. (The highway will join with US 62 and become a free-access 4-lane.) Take the ramp onto US 62 south toward Tidioute. In about 1.5 miles, look for Gunderville Road on the left. Park on the dirt road as close as possible to US 62. The entrance will be on the north side of Gunderville road.
To reach this cemetery requires a short hike up a very steep and rough gravel road, pictured above. Do NOT attempt to drive up!
Take a stroll through the cemetery...
The area is well maintained, with pine needles and fallen leaves carpeting the ground. | ||||
The grounds are level and completely enclosed by forest. |
||||
Just visible on the left is a metal fence enclosing five Peterson gravestones. Angling from the left are ten gravestones bearing the surname Leonhart. |
||||
The majority of the tombstones are old; some of them are merely field stones placed upright. Note the hole in the stone on the lower right side of the photograph. |
Over eighty burials are listed on Find-A-Grave - Lenhart Cemetery; however, some of the stones do not have names or dates.
Contributions are always welcome by sending information to the Warren County coordinator.
