Law and LegislationA knowledge of early Pennsylvania law and legislation is beneficial for all researchers. The following sources are excellent: Genealogical Abstracts of the Laws of Pennsylvania and the Statutes at Large by Candy Crocker Livengood (Westminster, MD, Family Line Pub. 1990). Includes information about name changes, divorces, land disputes, pensions, etc. as found in the state of PA. FHL call number 974.8 P38L. Other good indexes include: Mary Dunn's Index to Pennsylvania's Colonial Records Series contains information about individuals listed in the Minutes of the Provincial Council in Pennsylvania from the Organization to the Termination of the Proprietary Government, 1683-1790. The Minutes contain records such as naturalizations, Native Americans, petitions, appeals, legislation, passenger lists, boundary disputes, Loyalists, etc. |
