The
last will and testament of John Steel of Mahoning Twp. Mercer Co. I
John Steel considering the uncertainty of the mortal life and being of
sound mind and memory (blessed be Almighty God for the same) do make
and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form
following, that is to say. First, I give and bequeath to my beloved
wife Catherine Steel all my real property or estate for and during her
natural life. Item. I give and bequeath to my son William Steel the one
half of my real estate (the west end and place where he now lives)
after the death of my said wife. Subject nevertheless to his paying the
one half of the purchase money yet due and unpaid on the land, should
payment ever be required and his also paying the sum hereafter
mentioned to my son John Steel. Item. I give and bequeath to my son
David Steel the one half of my real estate (the last end of the place
where I now live) after the death of my said wife subject never the
less to his paying the one half of the purchase money yet due and
unpaid on the land should the same ever be required and also his paying
the sum here after mentioned to my son John Steel. Item. I give and
bequeath to my son John Steel one horse (the spotted Charley) also the
sum of fifty dollars, twenty dollars of which to be paid by my son
William Steel and the remaining thirty dollars to be paid by my son
David Steel after the death of my aforesaid wife. Item. I give and
bequeath to my son David Steel aforesaid one horse (the young bay
mare). Item. I give and bequeath to my daughter Nancy Allin one cow.
Item. I give and bequeath to my daughter Catherine Allin one cow. Item.
I give and bequeath to my daughter Jane Allin two sheep. Item. I give
and bequeath to my daughter Mary Allin to sheep. Item. I give and
bequeath to my beloved wife Catherine Steel aforesaid all the rest
residue and remainder of my personal estate, goods and chattels of what
kind of nature so ever, whom I hereby appoint my sole executrix of this
my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made.
In witness where of I have hereunto set my hand and seal the thirteenth
day of July one thousand eight hundred and thirty three.

sealed published and declared by the above named John Steel to be his
last will and testament in the presence of us who at his request and in
his presence have subscribed our names as witnesses there unto.
