The “Cottage” Methodist Episcopal
Church was built about 1858-60, the society
having organized about 1855-57, in a school-house which stood in
district No. 3, and was afterward burned. They built a frame church,
and afterward sold it to John
Wilson, who uses it for a dwelling. A second frame
structure was built subsequent to 1860. The first preacher was Rev. Mr. Gill, who probably
organized the society. The house stands about two miles west of Jackson
Center.
