In the amount
of labor done, the number of congregations organized, in all that go to
make up a successful ministry, he had no superior.
During Mr.
McLean's pastorate the following persons filled the office of elder in
addition to those already mentioned: David
McKnight, David White, Alexander Hunter, James McConnell, James Calvin,
Samuel Latta, J. W. Brown, David Brackin, William Melvin, Hugh Nelson,
Thomas Wier and Adam Thompson.
All these have been long since gone to their reward. Many of them
were men of large faith and abundant labor. We cannot here speak
particularly of them. Mr. J.W. Brown
was only eight years old when this church was organized and served as
elder for at least 65 years.

Anderson McLean
But a few months
after "Father" McLean closed his
labors here the congregation called his son, D. H.
A. McLean, who was then a student in the seminary at Cannonsburg.
