Sylvester Redmond, aged
73 years, of New Bedford, died in the Jameson Memorial hospital
Thursday at 2:25 p. m., after a short illness. Mr. Redmond was born
January 13, 1865, in New Wilmington, son of Barlow and Martha
Puffinberger Redmond. He lived in the New Bedford community for the
past 44 years, having gone there from New Wilmington. He was a farmer
and for forty years he did the threshing on various farms in the New
Bedford section. He was well known and had a great many friends. On
December 21, 1886, fifty-two years ago, Mr. Redmond married
Frances Jane Boyd, who survives. To the union were born eight children,
all of whom are living; Lloyd and Charles of Youngstown,
O., Robert of New Bedford, Frank of Toronto,
O., Mrs. Fred Kelly of Youngstown, Mrs. James Elder
of New Wilmington, Miss Kathryn Redmond, at home, and Mrs.
Carl Englehardt of Girard, O. Also surviving is Mr. Redmond's
brother, Thomas of Conneautville, Pa. Funeral services are to
take place Sunday at 2 p.m. from the residence and interment will be in
Hopewell cemetery. The deceased was a member of the New Bedford
Methodist church.
