Augusta Anna Patton

AGED MRS. PATTON SUDDENLY STRICKEN

Stricken with apoplexy while conversing with a friend on the telephone yesterday afternoon Mrs. Augusta Anna Patton, aged 80, widow of Miles J. Patton and one of Farrell's best known and most highly respected residents, died at her home, 646 Emerson avenue.

Mrs. Patton celebrated her 80th birthday anniversary last week. She apparently was in her accustomed good health and her death came with shocking suddenness. Mrs. Patton was sewing when called to the telephone. She had been talking only a short time when she made the remark she was not feeling well and collapsed. Dr. R/D. Nicholls was summoned, but she passed away in about a half hour.

Mrs. Patton was born in Saxony, Germany, March 18, 1844. She came to Buffalo when five years old with her parents. In 1862 she removed to Sharon, where she lived until she took up residence in Farrell, 24 years ago.

Mrs. Patton had been a member of the Protected Home Circle for the past 37 years. She was a woman of kindly disposition and many friends will be grieved to learn of her death. She is survived by one son, Joseph A. Patton of Portsmouth, O, three daughters, Mrs. Ashton Tribby of Petroleum, Mrs. Viola Metz and Miss Hazel Mae Patton at home, nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.
