Marion R. Whipple, 90, of 28 Franklin St., Warren, died Sunday, July 31, 1994 at the home of her son in Fairfax, VA.
Born
March 13, 1904, in Franklin, a daughter of James L. and Lena
Lichtenberger Robbins, the family later moved to Oil City, where she
graduated from Oil City High School. She studied piano and organ
for many years, taking courses at the Pennsylvania State University and
Edinboro State University. On Sept. 20, 1924, in Westfield, N.Y.,
she married Carl Whipple. The couple moved to Altoona in 1925 and
lived there until moving to Warren in 1947. She was a member of
the First Baptist Church and
served as organist for 17 years. She was a member of the Henice
Circle and the Women's Auxiliary of the church, a member of the
Philomel Club and accompanied the Philomel chorus and was a member of
the Blue Stocking Club.
Surviving are her husband; a son, Caryll
Whipple, Fairfax, VA.; a daughter, Nancy Erbland, Evans, Ga.; ten
grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Interment will be at Sandy
Lake Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at the First
Baptist Church, Warren, at 2 p.m. Friday.
The family suggests
memorial donations to the First Baptist Church Memorial Fund or the
Alzheimer's Association of Northwestern Pennsylvania at the Warren
Senior center.
