JAMES
P. MCKNIGHT - aged 79 years died at his home, 70 Elm Street, Sharon, PA
(Mercer Co.) on Sunday at 12:30 pm. Mr. McKnight has been a
resident of Sharon for 68 years. He had been an employee of the
National Mallable Steel Castings Co. for 26 years. He was born in
Pymatuning Twp. near Clarksville, October 12, 1843, the son of John and
Hannah Patterson McKnight. Forty years ago he married Miss Anna Booth,
who survives him. He was a man of fine personality, sterling
characteristics and most excellent citizenship and held in high esteem
by all. He was very public spirited. He was one of the original members
of the Sharon Fire Dept. in the early 1870's. Mr. McKnight was a member
of the Oakland Avenue Methodist Church, Sharon. Fraternally he was a
member of the Tribe of Ben Hur.
Besides his wife, there survives
two daughters, two sons and one brother. The daughters are Mrs. Will
Stewart, Miss Blanche McKnight and the sons are James McKnight and
Frank McKnight, the latter of of Chicago. The brother is Anderson
McKnight of Roaring Springs, PA. Funeral services will be from the
McKnight home, Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Rev. H.E. Phipps
will be in charge and burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Sharon, PA.
