Mrs. Joseph Polk, 88, Lived for Many Years in Stoneboro
Mrs. Joseph (Elmira) Polk, Stoneboro, died Monday morning in the Mercer County Hospital. She was 88.
A
daughter of Charles and Martha Jane Southern Law, she was born in
Franklin on May 18, 1877 and spent her lifetime in Franklin and
Stoneboro.
She married Joseph Polk May 8, 1904, and he survives.
She was a member of the Snowden Chapel, A.M.E. Zion Church, of Franklin.
Surviving
in addition to her husband are three sisters, Mrs. Martha Green, of
Franklin; Mrs. Addis Ordaz, San Francisco, Calif., and Mrs. Lottie
Smith, of St. Louis, Mo., and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
Funeral
services will be held Wednesday at 2:30 in the Waters Funeral Home,
Stoneboro, with the Rev. William C. McDown, of Erie, officiating.
Interment will be in the Colored Cemetery at Stoneboro. The family will
receive friends at the funeral home this evening.
