Former Sharon businesswoman
Mrs.
Ann M. May, 211 N. Oakland Ave., Sharon, a former area businesswoman,
died at 11:20 a.m. Monday (8-23-82) in Shenango Valley Osteopathic
Hospital, Farrell, after a brief illness. She was 90. Mrs. May owned and operated a store, May's Dairy, on North Oakland Avenue from 1946 to 1975.
She also had been a postmaster at the Farrell Post Office at one time.
Mrs. May was born Aug. 16, 1892, in Farrell, to John D. and Annie Badger Davis.
She was a 1910 graduate of Farrell High School and class valedictorian.
Previously
she had served as a committeewoman in the Republican Party and was a
member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Sharon. She had formerly been
active in the Episcopal Church Women's organization. Her husband, Harry V. May, whom she married Feb. 11, 1921, died Dec. 11, 1946.
Surviving are a son, John D. "Jack" May at home, four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She
was preceded in death by a brother, Lew Davis; two sisters, Mrs. Sara
Rutter and Miss Minnie Davis, and a half-sister, Lydia Schaller.
Funeral
Services were at the Sample - O'Donnell funeral home, corner of North
Oakland and East State St. Internment was in the Oakwood Cemetery.
