Death of Amos Tunison
On
Saturday morning last, soon after breakfast, Amos Tunison, a well known
citizen of West Salem, was found by members of his family, in his barn
in an apparently, insensible condition. He had fed his horses,
and partially cleaned out the stables, and had evidently suddenly
fallen down where he was found. He was removed to the house and
after vigorous rubbing, it became evident that he was not yet dead, and
a physician was hurriedly sent for and was with the patient as soon as
practicable, but found him in such a condition as to offer no hope to
his friends! He lingered till the evening of the same day and
died. The attack which so suddenly carried him off was evidently
something in the nature of paralysis. Deceased was a son of the
late James Tunison, and was born on the old Tunison farm, half a mile
north of Porter's, or more recently, Loutzenhiser's Corners. He
was about 54 years of age. He leaves behind a wife and four
sons. The eldest, a son by his first wife, resides in Crawford
County. The family was all present at the funeral. Rev. Dr.
Kunkelman conducted the funeral services.
