WILLIAM
G. BERRYHILL, M. D. - Universally respected and esteemed for his
professional knowledge and skill, William G. Berryhill, M. D., of
South Sharon, has built up a large and lucrative practice as a
physician and surgeon, and is fast winning for himself a prominent and
honorable name in the medical fraternity of Mercer county. A son of
Thomas Marshall Berryhill, he was born, January 30, 1867, in Jefferson
county, Ohio, coming on the paternal side of Scotch-Irish descent, and
on the maternal side of Welsh ancestry.
Thomas M. Berryhill was
born and bred in \Washington county. Pennsylvania. Reared to
agricultural pursuits, he subsequently moved to Ohio, locating in
Jefferson county and returning two years later to Washington county,
where he has since resided, during his years of activity having been
successfully employed as a farmer and machinist. By means of industry
and thrift, he has accumulated a competency. and is spending the
declining years of his life retired from active pursuits. He married
Jennie Griffith, a native, also, of Washington county, Pennsylvania,
and their wedded life has been pleasant and prosperous. Obtaining
the rudiments of his education in the district schools of his native
county, William G. Berryhill afterwards continued his studies in
Pennsylvania, attending first the Hickory Academy, and later Clark's
Business College, in Erie. Locating then in Hickory, he was there
engaged in business as a general merchant for three years. Then turning
his attention to the study of medicine, he spent two years at the
Medical College of the Western Pennsylvania University, and in 1895 was
graduated from the Baltimore Medical College with the degree of M. D.
Having received his diploma, Dr. Berryhill began the practice of his
profession at Slippery Rock, Butler counts', where he met with
encouraging success. He was subsequently located for a time at
Finleyville, Washington county, from there coming, in 1901, to South
Sharon, where he has met with flattering results in his professional
work, winning a fine position among the leading physicians of the place.
Dr.
Berryhill married, in 1901, Miss Della McCarrell, of Washington county.
They have one daughter, Helen Jane. Politically the Doctor is a stanch
Republican. He is president of the school board. Religiously he is a
member of the United Presbyterian church. He belongs to the Mercer
County Medical Society, and is a member of the Ancient Free and
Accepted Masons, and of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.
