EDWIN
F. ATWELL is prominently known in the business circles of Mercer count'
as a general contractor, and he maintains his home and residence at
Grove City, whither he came with his parents when a boy of thirteen. He
was born in Lawrenceburg, Pennsylvania, on November 24, 1870, the
eldest of the six children, three sons and three daughters, in the
family of Thomas J. and Elizabeth (Daubenspeck) Atwell. The father was
born in Clintonville, Venango county, Pennsylvania, and the mother in
North Hope, Butler county, this state. Thomas J. Atwell passed from
this life sixteen years or more ago, dying in Grove City in the year of
1892, aged forty-five. He had located in this city in and about 1883,
and became well known as a carpenter and contractor. The widow still
survives her husband, and vet maintains her residence in Grove City.
Edwin
F. Atwell was but a child when his parents moved from Lawrenceburg to
Parsonville in this state, and there he spent his early childhood days
and there received his initial schooling. When he had reached his
thirteenth year the family home was established in Grove City, and here
he completed his educational training and entered upon his business
life. During twelve years he was associated with the oil-producing
business, and he has also achieved success as a general contractor. In
his fraternal relations he is a Master Mason and a member of the
Independent Order of Odd Fellows. Mr. Atwell married Miss L. A. Gilmore.
