Dr, Thomas Morford Brown

Dr. Thomas Morford Brown was the son of  Josiah Brown (Jan 20, 1816-Aug 2, 1868) and  Mary Morford (Feb 14, 1817-May 7, 1848).  Both parents were born and died Mercer County.

Dr Brown married Sophonia Blank (b ca 1843-after 1868). Their children were Estella, Sherman Josiah and Harry. Dr. Brown served in the Civil war as a surgeon.  He was a Borough Officer when Sharpsville was incorporated May 21, 1874 and Medical examiner in 1879.

Dr. Brown died in 1879 and is buried in Riverside Cemetery in Sharpsville.

According to Curtis Morford's History of the Morford family, Thomas served in the Civil war.  Curtis's mother, Celestia Williams, was a sister of Permelia Williams, Thomas's stepmother, and the two families lived within a few miles of each other.

Thomas married first -  Sophronia Blank, who d Jan 2, 1876, age 32 y 10 m 24d, and is buried in Reichard Cemetery, South Pymatuning, along with their daughter, Stella. A family bible belonging to Evelyn's grandmother said the whole family died of TB.
