County, President Township around 1832. They are buried & Van
Giesen Run in the family plot along with George W. McCalmont. One of
their sons was Thomas Jefferson Van Giesen who was pretty well
known. Letitia Van Giesen married a McCalmont. There are
still Van Giesen's in Kane McKean County and surrounding areas.
Thomas and Rhoda were both born in New Jersey but they settled in
Venango County and raised a large family. 3 of their sons served
in the Civil War, John died in a prison camp, Ira was a drummer boy as
he was to young for combat and Thomas Jefferson. |
