First Church in Fredonia

[In 1872] the Methodists had built the first church in Fredonia, and Rev. Albert Kinney had preached the first sermon.  Their building is one of exceedingly modest pretensions, being only 30x40 feet, and without spire or belfry.  It is, however, comfortable, and meets well the demands of the sect who gather there, who are justly noted for their contempt of outward display, and who, like ancient Puritans, never substitute ceremonious homage for "the pure worship of the soul"
