The
Fairview Baptist Church was organized in September 1850, with
eight members, viz.: Henry and Jane Fulton, J. and
C. McCartney, Mahitabel Donaldson, E. Carpenter, E. Furman and A. Lewis.
Henry Fulton was selected as the first deacon and clerk. Elder
W. W. DeVan was secured as first pastor, serving until 1854. He
was succeeded by Elders Stedman, Clouse, Parker
King, Ward, Thomas, Davis and others. The house of worship,
30x40, was erected in 1851.
