Fredonia-Delaware Chapter 3, Blue Star
Mothers of America incorporated by the Act of the 86th Congress of the
United States was organized on October 25, 1945.
The charter members are listed as
follows: Katherine
Ammann, Marjorie Anderson, Theda Blake, Bertha Boger, Rozella Campbell,
Lucille Clinefelter, Ethel Craig (gold star), Margaret Eckley (gold star), Suella Hawthorne, Bessie Huey, Buela
Jamieson, Jane Jamison (gold star), Elda Kelly, Edna Little, Maxine Matthews,
Iva Meyer, Nellie Mitchelltree, Mabel McCauley, Mae McCartney, Pauline
McClimans, Bernice McDougall, Olive Pfouts, Helen Reimold, Anna Robins,
Anna Ruhlman, Esther Ryhal, Grace slater, Bertha Whitlach, Mary
Willaman.
Those who lost sons in the war are known as
"Gold Star Mothers".

The Blue and Gold Star Mothers - a patriotic,
educational service, and social order, pledge themselves - to be true
to the high ideals of democracy - to encourage the principles of
universal liberty, equal rights and full justice for all.
Thorough their many talents and persistent
efforts thy have provided special comfort for the patients in Soldiers and
Sailors Hospital and the Veteran's Administration in Erie as
well as for many in the Deshon V.A. Hospital, Butler.
Their T. L. C. (tender, loving care) has
brought cheer to servicemen and women both in camp and on far away
front lines.
For years the organization prepared and
served dinner at the Fire Hall after the Memorial Day program.
