My mother gave me this 1937 Bradford Telephone Directory several years ago when I began searching our family tree. After looking through it and realizing that no one in my family was listed in it, I packed it away in a box. During the last year or so, I've found myself spending more and more time searching for my ancestors on line and have been continually amazed at the kindness and generosity of so many people; complete strangers offering their time, experience and resources have been willing to help me find my long- forgotten family. One of many examples comes to mind. A while back, I'd given up hope of ever finding information on a particularly elusive ancestor, only to receive an e-mail telling me that I might want to check out a new list recently posted on a County site. While browsing the list, I not only found the ancestor in question but his entire family, as well. It's because of kind acts like these that I went looking for this old Directory that doesn't contain any of my relatives. I hope that posting it helps someone else to discover that one elusive name which will bring their brick wall crashing down. So, here is the 1937 Bradford Telephone Directory. A long list of names that were once hidden in a box. Not just ancestors but real people like you and me, waiting to be discovered, to take their place on a cherished family tree, or simply - to be remembered.
