Hammond Family of Annin

Nathan Hammond was born 31 August 1823 at Angelica, Allegany Co., N.Y., a son of George Hammond and Mary "Polly" Hinman. Nathan was married 25 December 1845 at Angelica to Mary V. Treat.

Nathan, his wife and children removed from Angelica before 1870 and located in Pleasant Valley Township, Potter Co., Pennsylvania. Prior to 1900 he removed to Annin Creek. Nathan was a farmer, school teacher and lumberman. In 1876, he was elected to the office of Associate Judge of Potter County, and through re-election held the position for ten years. Nathan died 10 August 1911 on Annin Creek, Annin Township, McKean Co., and is buried in the Til The Day Dawns Cemetery at Angelica, N.Y.

Mary V. Treat, the wife of Nathan Hammond, was born 17 December 1826 at Angelica, Allegany Co., N.Y. She died 12 December 1919 on Annin Creek, and is buried in the Til The Day Dawns Cemetery at Angelica, N.Y.

Nathan Hammond and Mary V. (Treat) Hammond were the parents of ten children:

1. George Palmer Hammond, b. 24 December 1846 at Angelica, Allegany Co., N.Y. George married Amanda M. Buckley about 1870 in Potter Co., Pennsylvania. George died 30 March 1921 at Wellsville, Allegany Co., N.Y., and is buried in Angelica, N.Y.
2. Susan Catherine Hammond, b. 27 January 1849 at Angelica. She was married 20 May 1878 to Hiram Niles Harder. Susan died 1903 and is buried in the Annin Cemetery, Annin Township, McKean County.
3. Mary Treat Hammond, b. 4 August 1851 at Angelica. She married Henry Yentzer. Mary died April 1937 in Potter County and is buried in the Sartwell Creek Cemetery, Pleasant Valley Township, Potter Co., Pennsylvania.
4. Dwight Lewis Hammond, b. 27 October 1853 at Angelica. He married 20 February 1878 at Williston, Potter Co., Pennsylvania, to Emma E. Babcock. Dwight died 16 August 1930 at Boyne City, Charlevoix Co., Michigan, and is buried at Boyne City.
5. Frank Dunkin Hammond, b. 9 August 1856 at Angelica. He married 4 July 1878 to Celia Wightman. Frank died 26 February 1889 and is buried in the Mt. Hope Cemetery at Friendship, Allegany Co., N.Y.
6. Ella Hammond, b. 21 May 1859 at Angelica. She died 29 July 1863 and is buried at Angelica.
7. Ole Hammond, b. 22 June 1861 at Angelica, died 8 June 1865 and is buried at Angelica.
8. Minnie Hammond, b. 15 June 1863 at Angelica. She married 9 June 1891 at Genesee, Allegany Co., N.Y., Frank A. Brown. Minnie died 6 May 1955 at Wellsville, Allegany Co., and is buried at Angelica.
9. Clara Hammond, b. 28 June 1865 at Angelica. She married 21 August 1894 at Friendship, Allegany Co., N.Y., Carleton S. Beckwith. Clara died 7 May 1945 on Annin Creek and is buried in the Annin Cemetery.
10. Jessie E. Hammond, b. 25 September 1867 at Angelica. She married 17 December 1890, Isaac Newton Miller. Jessie died 2 September 1935 and is buried in the Sharon Center Cemetery, Sharon Township, Potter Co., Pennsylvania.
