City Charter High School, commonly referred to as City High, is a charter high school operating on a year-round schedule. City High opened its doors on September 3, 2002. Founded by Dr. Richard Wertheimer and Mario Zinga, two former Pittsburgh Public School teachers, City High enrolled students from across the city’s neighborhoods and from neighboring districts. From its urban setting in the heart of Pittsburgh’s business community and networked learning environment to the non-traditional approach to teaching, City Charter High School has brought high school to the next level for over twenty years.
